Hi there, I've been apart from my SB6 for a long time... but I had to think to other problems...
Now I'm back in the garage with the engine still off the bike ready to be mounted.
I was about to check the carbs (46E0) and I found something strange:
the outer cylinder main jets are 140 (seem to be original Mikuni), the inner ones (n. 2 and 3) are 137.5. This is not in accordance with suzuki manual and a bit non sense... usually the inners one are richer due to the less cooling abilities (no air to cool them down)... this is what i knew from air cooled engines... and anyway seem a bit too large.
is very difficult to take off the pilot screw orings: is the best way to change them or could be worth a touch of sylicone greese while remounting the screws?
Emulsion tubes seems to be in good condition (some scratch visible only with magnifier lens) and the needles too... but they are from 3^ pitch from top and not to the 2^ (original 6ZD-13 needles).

Transmission kit: I've bought a 520 kit (a good DID Chain and PBR sprockets that were told me to be enaugh strong for the truck torque of the gsxr1100). Front sproket has a shape to mantain the original 530 offset from the shaft... should I mount a spacer on the rear wheel befor the rear sproket to obtain the same offset ?(I guess yes, but if anyone has already done...)

This summer I've bought the twin pipercross filters, but reading on the forum seem to be hard to let them work right... could be better to drill the airbox on the shock side or not?

I know, so many questions... but I don't want to waste more time with hands in hands so I ask in the only place tis bike is well known Very Happy

thanks

Not sure about the carb settings but maybe get the engine in and run it ... then take it to the dyno and have it set up.

If the o-rings are a bit gummy then try to clean them but if that's not going to work just renew them.

You shouldn't need a spacer for the rear sprocket. Remember there's a standard front spacer and don't forget the m6 bolt and wide washer.

My airbox has been cut out on the shock side

the orings are quite hard to take away, so I didn't want to scratch them with a needle if they are reusable. I thought that a bit of greese would seal any air leaking in a place where fuel is not passing through...

I will drill the airbox with 9 1/2" holes like suggested on an old topic. then I'll refit the jets I found but swap the order: 140 for 2 and 3, 137.5 for 1 and 4

the transmission: as you can see on the picture the PBR fron sproket isn't flat (the original 530 is) :

if I put a flat rear sproket the center of the chain would be a bit wider on the front and less on the rear (compared to the bike axe)

Embarassed Embarassed

I'thought I'd let the chain to pass too near the rear wheel... but You're right, the mm I loose without the offset I gain with a less wide chain... more or less

thanks Embarassed

....I think it's totally amazing that when i changed to 530 chains, I had several comments about how they might not be strong enough etc. etc.
...Not one comment about your 520 Laughing
Have people finally realised that chain technology has moved on?

...Of course, now that I've made that comment I hope that the 530 on the "big bore" doesn't let go Laughing

i talked about that with the shop, and the tensile strenght of a good 520 is really enaugh...
I think that a bad mantainence on a 530 could be really more dangerous: too tight, not lubed....

So: I'll reverse the front sproket... the last doubt is that the chian will not perfectly fit the slide on the swingarm. Oily have you done some mod or let the chain suit the old guide as it goes?

...No mods
The chain will mod the swing arm slider soon enough Wink
The 530 chain slots onto the slider perfectly, the 520 should almost fit too if it's aligned correctly

You should be using a chain aligning tool, there are no marks on the swingarm remember.

And nobody should be guestimating the alignment either

I've followed the Paioli part ID

the two items seem to change only for the connectors, but it wouldn't be the problem.
