How is this coming along Marco? |
Hi there...
just came back from a long holiday in Thailand... we (me and my thai girlfriend) have bought a house in Koh Samui ... and more than an holiday has been a work camp
Yesterday I reworked on the Bim... I've swinged forward the engine and disconected the water pump...
changed the seals, greased the impeller shaft and changed the mail oring... let's hope it will not leak anymore.
BTW, testing by fingers the impeller after seals change, it was a bit hard to rotate... maybe the new seals are a bit tight at beginning...
changed the philips with allen bolts for a better tightening...
is there any new bride in your "garage harem"? _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

almost ready... but I'd better do not say as seems that working on a Bimota you better read the Murphy Laws instead the workshop manual...
if there are no more leaks in the cooling system I shoild have fixed all the fixable _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

finally I've remounted the engine with new coolant pump seals and new radiator... no leaks anymore (for now...crossed fingers)
Installed the air box as the pipercross filters didn't fit the carbs so good...
I avoided the RAM pipe as it seems a strange thing to me (no pressurized air box, just a "fresh air" induction with a very small inlet in the front fairing)
At the end I thing I've guessed why the rubber mat on the alternator is there: the coolant bleeding screw is right over the alternator, and filling the new coolant many drops could fall right over the alternator wiring.
I'll remount the front fairing as it is, but I've noticed a crack... Oily in an old topic indicated as Red Mica 7286 the red color code: is that for all the SB6's reds?
I'll try a fiberglass repair kit and a touch up finish for cracked paint
If the weather will start to be a spring one I'll be riding the Bim in a week _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

ok, I couldn't resist anymore... brought back the bike from my parents house...
no more overheating, engine a little rough when cold then very smooth and powerful...
all seems to work fine exception made for the speedometer that still doesn't work...
as soon as the weather is fine I'll try on the Appennini and post some photo _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |
