Hi Keith, Welcome to the most helpful Bimota forum in the UK
I'm sure there will soon be a plethora of Bimota experts along shortly to help you with your woes but whilst you wait, you could best use your time pulling off the body work and unbolting the engine
On the SB6, there is very little in the way of repair and maintenance that can be achieved without first dropping or at least swinging the engine forward on the lower/rear engine mount.
This you will need to do to remedy your problem
Whilst your there a FULL service would seem to be the way to go.
Where in the world are you?
Maybe assistance could be closer than you think.
The alternative, of course, is to sell it to me
Just re-read your post and realised yours is a 6R
Slightly easier to work on
Both are well worth the effort. _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Service it - the plugs are important but don't irridium, I use twin electrode NGKs. Take the plugs out and check you have a spark.
Clean the carbs - that's probably whats stopping it from starting. The old petrol bungs up the jets so you don't get the right fuel / air mixture.
You'll need to turn it over for while to get the petrol through too by which time you could have flooded the bike - I could be wrong on that because the 6R has a fuel pump ... not that it's necessary.
I reckon you've got a new charged up battery but put some jump leads on it from a car battery just to make sure. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

If we're talking about the alternator coupler again, which is on the end of the starter clutch, you need to drop the motor rather than pivot it on the front mount, as some of the bolts that hold the starter clutch cover on are so long they will not clear the frame in pivotted mode. Once you've got the cover off the starter clutch just lifts out. Then you need to pull a bearing off and press a new one on from memory. The bits come to about £100. You need some liquid gasket to put the cover back on. _________________ What, Jonny's gone! |

Correct. The suzuki rf900 is the same unit which gives you more scope to get another item to replace. Cost me 30 quid from a breaker and never had an issue since removing the rubber mat! _________________ Pomps

Then there is always the option of a billet one piece drive, they'll never break!!
