Now its time to do my winter maintenance and I am thinking of a complete dismantling of the bike. If someone has ideas of tips and tricks for some modifications please let me now. Question Question

What do you guys think of a lithium battery in the SB6 Question
Now days the lithium battery is powerful enough and in size small enough to just install one battery.

If the temperature drops beneath 6 ° C it’s wintertime… Smile

There is no place to install a turbo Confused

What brand is the battery Question

I've run my 6R on a Lithium, and downsized it to YTX9 equivalent, is excellent. Cranks the bike better, is smaller, and weighs f**k all.

Have run them on the GSXR SRAD race bikes too, even on total loss they do fine. Real funny when they do run flat, they drop off almost like hitting the kill-switch!

Does anyone have a solution for this?

The shaft and the bushing are totally worn-out…. Sad

That's not strange when using soft materials for this construction….
What were they thinking when they designed this… Shocked
It is definitely not made for durability ..[/img]

Definitely a point to consider ..... but not this year.

My goal now is to make the Bim more reliable
Easier to maintain.. and to overlook some strange construction designs..

Hmmm......
Very common problem I'm afraid.
Several ways to tackle it.
Easiest is to make a complete new sleeve which I've successfully done in the past along with stainless nuts as the aluminium nuts just split when you tighten them. I also skimmed the footpeg in the lathe to clean up the wear.
I thought of having a batch made but every case has a different amount of wear and a lathe is required for the final fitting so that's out as not everyone has a lathe to finish the job.
Terrible design and a terrible choice of materials.
It requires a harder sleeve shrunk onto the footpeg and a bronze sleeve complete Wink (perhaps)

loads of space for a turbo : )

this is a 6R though . .

about the pedal bushes Vince- there are new ones available, but they will not be any better though- maybe possible to fit a grease nipple underneath.

That’s a good solution… why don’t you make a few for us forum users. Wink

I was thinking to make a Teflon layer between it.
Advantages is that it does not require lubrication so dirt can’t become an abrasive pastes.

I have no lathe ... but I do have the ability to use a lathe at work (an old lathe)

Even on a 6R, with loads more room than a 6, they can't find room for niceties such as ........ headlights and things Laughing
