A few weeks ago I was in the car, on a single carriageway road, in a national speed limit, I was doing 60mph, it was drizzling so I had my headlights on, it’s was mid morning. A car pulled out from a layby on the RHS of the road, right in front of me and I braked very hard, mounted the steep embankment to avoid the car, our wings touched and there was some damage to my car, minimal damage to the other car. The driver claimed the windows were steamed up and he couldn’t see. I pointed out he had electric windows and a passenger and there was no excuse. I got the passengers’ name and phone number, as she claimed it was her car, I was to contact her for the insurance details. Now she claims it’s her mothers’ car and the mother has said she won’t provide insurance details as there’s no damage to her car and I have to go through my own insurance, who will advise how to contact her insurance- which is difficult when I don’t have their details! In essence I believe the man driving the car wasn’t insured. Again they have failed to provide a name for the driver. Lesson learnt, I should have got that at the time and not taken her word she would provide it later with the insurance details. The damage to the car is £300, and the excess on my car is £300. I have little to gain by going through my insurance
Anyway, the irony of it was that only the week before I had a marketing email selling these in car ‘safety’ cameras. Considering I do 25k a year, mostly on my own I thought it was a great idea, should anything like the above happen, when I was in the car on my own [or with a 3yr old]. They sit on the dash/windscreen and record constantly. It seems you can get a cheap one for £20 from ebay/china or a good Novus or similar for £200.
Has anyone got one? Any comments would be most welcome _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

Report it to the police.
If you have pictures at the scene that would good - even if they're pics from your phone, they should show the car and number plate. Give the name of the woman and a discription of the man.
Not providing details is an offence (I think), driving with windows steamed up is Not Due Care and Attention. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

If they want to keep the driver quiet then it costs the price of 300 to pay for your damage without resorting to insurance and messing with your premiums. _________________ Pomps
