Now stealing the Shorai battery I bought for my project to fit on to my latest SB6 which has a couple of duff battery's.
Should be a good test.
2 X YTX7L-BS Vs 1 X LFX14L2-BS12......
...The 2 YTX7L's weigh in at 5350gram's measured on M's scales.
...The 1 LFX weighs in at 676 grams
as long as it does the job, it's a no brainer .
The LFX is a bit over double the price of two YTX's.
Me thinks a bulk buy could work here.
Any body have a contact at carrot cycles (the importer)? _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

I can put a deal together for the SPS Lithium batteries I sell if that helps.

...Just had a quick (very) look on their website Daz, they seem very expensive or am I looking in the wrong place?
Could still do with some prices for the most popular Bims as I'm sure there (maybe) will be a demand.
They need to compete with the likes of Shorai though on weight and price

I've not used the Shorai battery, so don't know how they would compare, but the retail price on the YTX9 equivalent SPS battery is just under £115, though I could offer them to the forum for less, just under £100.
I will say that the SPS is very tough, and has taken plenty of abuse on the race bike, and weighs in at about 780g.
One thing to check on Lithium batteries is that they contain battery cell condition monitors, or their life will be far less than it should.

I can see an issue with the SPS.....
the YTX9 is only about 8Ah (?) so you still need 2 (?)
The Shorai is 14Ah hence the need for only 1 _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

But is the Shorai the YTX9 equivalent? Are we comparing like for like? There are a whole range of SPS batteries available, maybe running a YTX12 equivalent would give you the desired Ah? And were the 2 SB6 batteries used to generate the required cranking power? The Lithium batteries are some 40% better for CCA, so can maybe run a smaller unit for running power.
Can tell you for sure though guys, the Lithium YTX9 on my SB6-R starts it far better then the lead acid battery did.
The offer and the option is on the table though, I'll do whatever I can if it's a help on the supply side.

...I'm no expert Daz...i've just googled this info
Sb6 is normally 2x YTX7's each @7ah and each @ 120cranking amps
The shorai LFX7 has comparable ah and cranking amps
BUT the shorai LFX14 has the same sized case but has 14ah and 210 cranking amps, this is the one I'm testing.
Most modern bikes have about 12/14ah battery's depending on electronics and engine size/compression etc.
YTX 9 has 8ah which if that works, then that's superb.
What I do know is....1 X ytx7 which is 7ah and 120 cranking amps, is not man enough to start my sb6 in anything but optimum conditions and I'd call that a marginal battery
I imported my shorai from the states and got stung with the duty. It cost a bit over a £100 so comparable in price with the SPS.
Carrot motorcycles, the importer want £130 for them _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

I don't live and breathe batteries either but I looked at it this way. A YTX9 will run a fuel injected GSXR with no problems, that is what many left/leave the Suzuki factory fitted with, and there is a far greater drain on the electrical system when you factor in the fuel pump and injectors etc. never mind the sensors and extra capacity of the ECU. A carburettored engine requires very little power to run it, and the generator will provide more than enough energy to run the lights etc when the bike is out and running. Therefore my only issue was starting ability regarding running a Lithium battery over a larger lead/acid one. Cranking power on a regular YTX12 is approx 160-180amps when new, the Lithium YTX9 battery is rated as 150. Factoring in the manufacturers safety limits, the slight decrease was worth a try in my book, and it works a treat. The YTX12 my 6R was fitted with was approx 12 months old, and the performance tail off was noticeable when compared to a new one, which I did try in the whole process of the swap to the Lithium battery. The Lithiums are far more resistant to the age related reduction in output too.
Guess what I'm saying is, it's very easy to get wrapped up in numbers and values. But these bikes were made some 15 years ago, and regular battery technology has moved on since then, never mind the step up to the new Lithium ones. It's maybe worth checking out the ratings for a battery produced in the late 90's to see how they compare.
Enough of my soap-boxing, all I'm offering is to supply the SPS batteries at a low price compared to what their recommended prices are, to anyone on the forum that it may be of help to, if they are not suitable, or they do not make a battery to suit, nothing lost. But I would recommend any 6R owner to consider the swap be it to like for like sizing, or try the YTX9 swap if they wish when their battery is due replacement. The weight saving is very evident even when just pushing the bike around the workshop. And as the SB6 shares the same motor, carbs etc I'd consider it a viable swap too. Or you could run 2 Lithium YTX5L-BS equivalents that match the twin YTX7L-BS set up exactly on ratings but only weigh approx 1kg for the PAIR, though the pair is higher on cost which may rule them out. The options are kinda endless.
