For the second time my rear brake caliper has snapped its mount into the swingarm, this time however it snapped my braided line which then put brake fluid everywhere and to top it of it also tore a 100mm gash into my rear fender. Has anyone else had this happen? Any recommendations?

My mechanic said it was an insert that goes into the swingarm but maybe it isnt wide enough to handle the stresses involved with braking.

Had a track day organised tomorrow as well so am very happy it happened at 50kmh rather than 250kmh.

Will post photos soon-ish, have to finally pull finger and learn how to post on here. I also wont be fixing until next year as too many other bills to take care of.

To be more specific it was the bolt/rod that inserts into the swingarm that sits in the slot thats on the aluminium carrier that the rear caliper bolts onto.

Diving boots no sidi vetebra yes.

I am amazed you have managed to pull the insert out. It sounds like the brake is coming on when you are driving the bike rather than when you are braking as you would lock up the rear wheel way before the insert comes out. I would try a new rear master cylinder as a couple of us have had the similar issue ( although it only resulted in burnt out brake pads) with DB2's and this sorted the problem.

No the insert has snapped and is still partially inside the swingarm, i havnt pulled the wheel of but i can see that it has snapped.

The brake definitely isnt coming on by itself or by me trailing it. Im still using the same pads that were in the bike when i brought it and that was 14000miles ago and there is still plenty of meat still on the pad.

I would agree on a new master cylinder as the performance of the rear brake wasnt that great from the day i brought it, i didnt think it too much of an issue as im more a front braker anyway. Brembos, braided lines and cast iron floating discs are hard to beat.
