...Some people shouldn't be allowed tools or indeed motorcycles lest they do their selves harm or is this a prime example of Darwinism?
Just one of a couple of things I've come across in the last couple of days...

...Can you see the problem?
some body has bought a very expensive set of wheels and I know you have to give Dymag the specific size sprocket you require. OK, easy to make a cock up when ordering said sprocket but you have just got to notice when you fit it to the bike....

APPARENTLY NOT
Shocked Rolling Eyes

530 sprocket
532 chain
not a good match at all
Shocked Rolling Eyes

Anyone got a Dymag 532 sprocket?

Cool

If they can't use the right rear sprocket, they sure as hell can't drop the motor and change the front sprocket Laughing

Im supprised it made such a mismatch as the 530 and 532 chains have the same pitch.
Its only the roller size that is different.
530
Pitch 15.88 Width 9.53 Roller 10.16
532
Pitch 15.88 Width 9.53 Roller 11.10

I would ask why the strange size on the Bim, but I supose the answer is cos its a Bim lol.

...Nearly 1mm per roller difference...that's huge...
every 10 links = 10mm, the chain is about 106 links from memory so 106mm difference overall Wink

532 chain is supposedly stronger and lasted longer due to the bigger rollers.
Don't forget this was 1990's chain technology Wink
Most people convert to 530 these days including me when I'm in a position that requires a chain and sprocket change.
In this instance, the chain has only done 4000 from new, is in very good condition (despite its appearance), I don't want to drop the engine at the moment and I'm working to a tight budget so cheapest option = new rear sprocket.

It dosnt change the length, as the pitch is the same.
It just changes how it sits on the sprocket.
Should just sit proud on all teeth, so dont see why it would be out of position part way around ????
Almost looks like its a 630 chain, or very worn????

...Of course, your right Si...
the pitch is the same so overall length is the same.
No, it's not a 630....that is a blast from the past.

532 is still in common usage on such things such as R6's etc Wink

......Here's an interesting factoid....
whilst changing this wayward sprocket, I took the opportunity to weigh the rear wheel...

Dymag Carbon Rear
complete with tyre, bearings, sprocket and sprocket carrier and, of course, the rear disc weighs in at 11.78 kgs

Antera rear wheel
WITHOUT sprocket, sprocket carrier, bearings and rear disc weighs in at 13.6 kgs
Shocked

the weight saving program is going in the right direction Laughing
