....Yes, the beloved Bimota boat anchors
Because they look so good and despite the weight, I'm going to restore a pair and wrap them up in cotton wool till I need them
I now have an abundance of wheels....
4 pairs Dymags
3 pairs Antera's
2 pair of Marchesini's
1 pair of oscoms
thats 10 pairs of wheels for 5 bikes so about time I did something with them.
The latest SB6 came with an horrendous pair of Antera's which were(are) painted blue and white so desperately need powder coating. After finaly locating the sprocket carrier, I thought I'd start on that. Easiest way to get rid of the chipped and peeling blue paint was to strip it down and whack it in the lathe.....
...All nice and clean so start rebuilding it....
The pins/bolts, go all the way through and hold the sprocket on...
...a smear of grease inside and outside of the metal inserts that line the cush drive rubbers. One of the inserts were missing so I quickly turned one up on the lathe...
...all fitted, now to check the bearings....oh dear
...Two bearings fitted and both knackered, the price of using cheap, Chinese bearings....need to order a couple of 6205R's and while I'm at it I'll order new bearings for the back and front wheels which are 6204's
Doubt they will be here before christmas which isn't an issue because the wheels won't be blasted and powder coated till the new year. _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Cool. I personally don't have a problem with Antera's. The weight is not a problem for me as i don't race my bikes anyway. My sports bikes out perform 'me' as it is .
I've never owned a bike with light wheels so i don't know any differentand I can't afford to find out. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I agree Brian. I like the look of the Antera, very nice wheel in my opinion......if weight isn't an issue.
Just finished stripping the ....things. Just broke my bead breaker trying to get the Dunlop off the front wheel. Why do Dunlop make their tyres such a tight fit?
...So many parts to a wheel ..........
.....The fancy nancy colour is going to be replaced with a nice silver as per original SB6
They won't be powder coated until the 9th of Jan so don't get holding your breath...which should give the bearings a chance to arrive...which reminds me, bearings, I assumed wrongly that the two front bearings were the same....they are not. There's a smaller bearing on the speedo drive side a 6004 so the bearing list for these wheels, for SB6 fitment at least, is:...........
1 X 6004
3 X 6204
2 X 6205

They do look nice.
But why do they weigh the same as a planet.
Seems daft to put top notch springy things on and then have such heavy things bouncing up and down at the end of them.
Light wheels do make a huge difference, even on the road, and even to us mear mortals. _________________ Si...

No...I wouldn't mind at all
Tomorrow is my last opportunity to look for a christmas present and card for my wife so I'll measure up the sprocket carrier spacer instead
It will be done in the morning _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

No...definitely "instead" Brian. Think it's going to rain again and there's Bimota things that need doing and then if there's time "After", I might nip up to the corner shop and see what they've got _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

...Excellent service and reasonable price...Simply Bearings
postman delivered them a few minuets ago...
...Didn't realise that SKF were made in Bulgaria
The immigrants can stuff their pockets with them when they migrate over here next year...Oops, I didn't say that un-politicly correct thing out loud did I?
Quite an easy fit on the spacer...
...then press home into the sprocket carrier, replace the huge circlip and all ready to fit
...Reverse view...
...just have to wait until the new year to get the wheels powder coated now
