I think moaning in bad luck days is the B side of being a champion...
Biaggi is the king of moaners, but his talent and riding style cannot be in doubt...
Rossi jockes and smile while all goes great, but in bad days became a moaner too...
Stoner, more thank a moaner I would call him unpleasant... but who cares about words, I like races and braveness on track... not the interviews or fake smiles
I think Stoner is the fastest, Lorenzo the "squarest"... but Rossi is still Rossi _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

Pedrobot and Lorenzo get a fair bit of stick over their personalities in the UK press. Living here in Spain I feel a lot of this is down to language. These guys are well out of their comfort zone being interviewed in English. When I see them on Spanish TV they are a lot more relaxed, taking part in fun events, laughing and joking, etc.
Its tough speaking another language, let alone being funny and witty in a foreign language.
Of course this is no excuse for Stoner
Go Lorenzo. I predict Rossi may get one or two wins this year but I think the rest (other than the freak rainfests randoms) will go to Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Marquez. _________________ Now - SB6R, GSX1400, KTM 990 SuperDuke

Right,time for my tuppence worth.
To be a great racer, you need to be virtually fearless, and have absolute and total faith in your machinery and tires. The technology in both machine and tires is way beyond what the road rider encounters today
Interestingly, read a book called " GP TECHNOLOGY", it illustrates the amazing tech that goes into these GP bikes, that virtually "think" for
themselves, sometimes even overiding the riders input.
How would you like going into a corner at speed for the bike suddenly to decide - no you cant shut the throttle, as it will make the rear wheel hop and loose grip, so it automatically through a EMS keeps some of the
"ride by wire "throttle open.
Check the angle of lean in slow motion, every piece of the bike "flexing"
because that is the way it is designed, and wonder -would you be sh**ing
yourself with that rear wheel drift.
I have the utmost respect for all these racers (moaners or otherwise) and when it comes to a point where they believe that it is no longer worth commiting thier lives to it, then I can only thank them for the pleasure of watching them ride over the years.
In a different world , a lot of people called motor racing driver Jackie Stewart a "moaner", but he new the value and cost of being a racer
and when it became no longer viable in a sport he loved ,when to quit _________________ Marty

The FIM was established in 1949, so effectivelly the format ,500cc,350cc,250cc,125cc and 50cc road racing was established then ( actual racing of bikes has been on the go since 1900).
I started watching them 1975, the eras of Sheen,Roberts,Mamola ,etc. So every decade has produced numerous hero`s , Agostini,Hailwood,Lawson,Gardiner,Rainey,Doohan, etc
It is impossible to say who is/was the best, as it is different eras, different bikes, different circuits, different rules.
Long gone are the days, of GP racers, sitting on the paddock walls, smoking ,hands still dirty after setting up thier bike.
To me, real roadracers, will race anywhere. There are very few ( in fact none) on the GP world today, who would put thier skill to the test in places like the IOM or Macau.
As far as I can remember, only the likes of Haslam, Crosby, did that in the last 30 years _________________ Marty

It was only referred to as "MotoGP" when the 4 strokes came in in 2002. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
