I just bought a new (#6 of 6) 2010 Bimota HB4 with the Honda 600 cc Moto 2 engine and ECU from Europe. As soon as I get it in the US, I will post photos and videos of it. It is a new bike that was going to be used in Moto2 but was not used at all so I could not resist but to buy it for my permanent collection and probably a few track blasts and Bimota days.

Has anyone heard who will be racing that Bimota chassis in Moto 2 for 2012? I cannot find any information on that.

Thanks.

Just last week i was thinking about a Bimota running in Moto2. I recon it would be nice to see. No reason why it wouldn't do well with the right backup and rider i guess. MONEY and somebody putting a team together will be the real issue i suppose.

I agree with you, but somehow the year of the race motor has something to do with it. In this case it is MY2010 and not 2012 Moto 2 spec.

Pierro in Milan has an ex-factory Bimota GP2 bike - think it was the WillyRot bike but can't be certain. He didn't speak too highly of it.

If you watched the videos of the HB4 in testing, you would see that it is a superior chassis. The reason many teams IMHO did not use the Bimota HB4 chassis is that the company is known over and over for being problematic with parts and support. Imagine needing parts while in the middle of Moto 2 season and no one picks up the phone at Bimota factory? Or worse, they do pick up but acquiring the parts are " non e' possibile "?

I am real curious to know what was said about the HB4 (feel free to PM me his contact info and I will call him to ask). I also live in Milano so I could even meet him. How much is that bike?

Thanks.

I don't think it was that superior or it would have been winning week in week out. Lets be honest the Moto2 bike was good but as the others moved on the Bim didn't, sad but true.

For those of you that do not know, Bimota's HB4 was "designed on paper-to-the race track" in 3 or 4 months. Look at the mediocre rider's results and how they were in the top 10 many times. The chassis is very advanced and I think that it will rival most teams if the right privateer team devotes the resources to it.

After all, it is a BIMOTA!!!!

True - but when I visited the factory in 2010 (the year they competed in MotoGP2) I saw 2 of the "test mule" bikes in the race shop and even the staff didn't appear that enthusiastic about them. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

My conclusion is that the Italians at Bimota don't like to work - I speak from experiencing this firsthand by living in Milano for 4.5 years…. lol.
