After a world of reading I am tempted by an,
ULTRABATT UB400LITE,
12V (13,2V) / 4,6Ah (compatible with 7-14Ah lead/acid batteries)
Short pulse discharge 400A
Pulse discharge at 10sec 240A (240 CCA cranking amps)
Dimensions of 114x62x81mm (LxWxH)
Total weight of 728gram
Nice and small, inbuils cell ballancing technology, etc..
BUT
Frigin expensive £175 or so, and out of stock. _________________ Si...

They are in back order. _________________ vince

Ultrabatt only give 2 Yr waranty.
Performance parts Ltd in Northamptonshire say they will have them in 2 - 3 weeks. But they can't garantee that the UB400 will do the job as the GSXR1100WS fitment is a UB600 wich is too big for the Bim battery box.
This what they said.
"Hi Simon,
Ok, not the first place you would think to mount a battery. The YTX7LBS is equivalent to 100 cold cranking amps and as the UB400LITE has 240 cold cranking amps it might do the job, it’s just we can’t be 100%. Same ETA for the UB400’s as the UB600’s.
I hope this helps.

I see the 600 is about 15mm wider than one standard SB6 battery
127 x 84 x83mm versus 114 x 71 x 131mm
But you could get a little extra space by taking off the foam padding from the sides of the box and maybe use a new retaining piece on the outside. You might even be able to use the left hand one on the right hand side _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

If that's all we're quibbling over...13mm...the foam on the bracket is 13mm, plus there's loads of room to extend the battery cradle:wink:
get a price for a bulk buy and I'll see if my new battery will be one of these _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

If you could get that to fit you could get a stock GSXR battery to fit such as the Motobatt MBTX12U 151 x 87 x 130 and costing under £50, but still 4.4Kg but a bit lighter than 2 standard batteries at 5.2Kg _________________ Si...

Before we get all excited, maximum battery size for a standard SB6 (either side) with no modifications except foam removal is:
hight...160mm
length...125mm
width...70mm

It's the width it just won't fit in the hole you know. OK use the 400LITE
Out of interest how wide is the bit where the fuse box sits ??? _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Fuse box doesn't interfere with the battery's at all. Max height is determined by the clocks _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Just out of interest.
LithiumMoto.com have some interesting things to say about the Shorai batteries, not very flattering.
They will build you a battery to any configuration, size etc you like.
But they are in the states etc, and I dont like the see trough cases much. But worth a look if your that end of the world. _________________ Si...

Think any model car/aircraft shop will build you a lithium battery, that is were they originated from in the first place , for race usage, and lots of the lithium batteries available today are just a serious of smaller batteries soldered together and put in a user friendly case. |
