Hello there,
I am wondering if there is no solution for the spam wich is more and more on this forum.
I suggest to block the owners of these useluss articles on this "splendid" forum.
I asume i am not the only forummer who is tired of these type of actions on the forum wich spreads like oil in the water.
Hopefully the admin or someone who has the authority will delete these topics and fake forummers.

I've been having trouble with the site lately too. Comes up with errors when ever i post. Not sure if this has a connection to the increase in spam lately. Anyone else having trouble? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Agreed.
Only Admin can sort it but they're not here and don't look like they're going to put in an appearance either. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Hi
Sorry, been away for a bit.
Deleted about 180 spam posts and banned a few email addresses. This has slightly screwed up the "last post' for some areas on the front page.
Couple of the email addresses are gmail ones. I am wondering whether to ban gmail accounts from signup (still allow them for anyone already registered and using one).
Not sure how I can stop more of them automatically. There are already a few checks, and these ones hadn't already been reported on stop forum spam, etc.
All the best

Hi
Not so sure about that. Too many real users would be put off by something like that, while I suspect the spammers wouldn't care (either easily modified script which likely already has more spam in their profile, or someone in the 3rd world being paid peanuts to register).
There are a load of blocks to stop spammers and many do work. There are currently over 100k blocked attempts at registering, with 458 so far today! That is for about 63k distinct email addresses. Some of these will be real users who just got the simple question wrong, but 99% are blocked spammers.
All the best

Thanks Keith. That explains it a bit better. I certainly didn't realize that spammers were so privelent.
