Hi Brian, I have just seen this thread. It's nice to see the real deal once again. I have an 86 GSXR-1100 as good as it gets in my office Cool I also used to work with the guy that tuned that #4 bike. If you want to keep it original Question all good. But the trick is to slot a 900 in it. Same way we built GXSR 7-11's

Thanks mundy. The 750 will do me for now, if i ever get it finished. It's more of a fun thing for me than a race bike. I was always in love with the ZXR's that were so dam good in the WSB of there time and just wanted to build something that reminded me of that era. It's been hard finding some of the parts but i'm doing ok. Managed to find a set of Marvic magnesium wheel in the US, they're now on their way to oz Wink .

It's cost me a lot more than what i could have bought a track ready ZX10 for, but i want something with a bit of character rather than a new common as muck rocket ship.

The bloke that i bought the bodywork from was down your way somewhere. He was parting out an M model with a 900 in it and ZX6 (i think?) front and rear suspension.

Did he tune the bike that this bodywork came off or the #4 bike that ran in the SBK series?

Scored a set of Marvic wheels from the U.S. What a pain in the arse to get them from U.S to Aus! Just over 3 months and about 1000 phone calls and emails later...

Haa... Got a nice surprise in the mail today from the other side of the world.

It's a bit hard to see but I liked the message from morebhp to the customs mob. It reads...

Oz customs - contains 20 yr old knackered t shirt. Worthless to me so I am giving it to Brian.

Thanks again Paul. Wink

I'd say the customs dudes got a laugh out of it too. Package hadn't been opened.

It's a bit hot here today but still might sneak in a ride Laughing

Forum's been a bit quiet of late and not seen many pics, so thought I might give a bit of an update on this non-Bimota project I've been working on...

Since the last update on here I've done a few bits and pieces in between other stuff getting in the way.

Rebuilt the FCR41 carbs. Had to split the rack to repair one of the accelerator pump linkages as well

Enclosed carbon airbox installed and carbs back in

Relocated the coils to the nose cone to give more room under the airbox

Wiring is pretty much complete now. Fitted a main switch through a relay as all power went through the kill switch before

Also fitted the Yoshimura multi meter and a couple warning lights for oil pressure and neutral.

Alternator removed, block off plate fitted and carbon fibre battery box for lithium battery installed

Replaced bearings in the rear Marvic wheel. Seems a very complicated setup for what it is.

Fitted new ally sprocket and new brake rotor. Not a fan of the wavey disc but it's light and will do for now

Nice new shiney titanium bolts for the front and rear brake rotors. Stock steel bolts at top of pic and titanium loveliness at bottom. The titanium bolts are less than half the weight of the steel bolts.

Looking Good BRian...and yeh...traffic is slow on here otherwise....Rear set up seems overcomplicated? Looks like typical standard Bimota for Antera rear wheel, spacer, 2 bearings in cush drive, spacer, bearing in wheel, spacer tube, bearing in wheel, spacer again...and then spindle and nuts.....as on all antera stuff....never worth just doing one set of bearings do all four...have seen one where someone forgot to put back the inner tube spacer...oh me.....

Previously the wheel would bind up when the axel nut was tightened. Wasn't too bad but it put enough side loading on the bearings that they would have failed if I'd left it like that. There's a small (1.3mm) washer at the l/h end of the main spacer tube that was slightly worn. I got a new slightly wider washer made up and problem solved.

Easy enough to leave something out 2bims... especially if you work like me, pulling stuff to bits and then trying to put it back together 6 months later Rolling Eyes
