i have installed an SB7 fairing and tank/seat, took the rear mudguard off, masked the lights, and take my SB6 to track days here in Greece.
You can see some photos from the first day to the final day of the rebuild here
http://www.moto.gr/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54752&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
Of course it's Greek to you but the pictures are worth it.

Ans Track pictures here
http://www.moto.gr/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84711&perpage=15&pagenumber=2

There are some Desmosedici Track pictures also! But I had to go slow...it only had 1000 km on the clock and is worth 6-7 SB6s.. Wink

Enjoy!

looks great! I am booked onto my first trackday with my sb6 on monday. Still has all original bodywork so will be taking it easy and fingers crossed I wont be taken out on the first corner... in the fast group to reduce the risk of duffers!

I'm glad you liked the pics. Of course you wouldn't be able to understand anything from the text, it's in Greek! Laughing

Pompey, if I may add some info for your track day.
My fork was too soft last year so I changed the oil to 15W from 10W, same quantity and it was much better.
With 10W I had the adjusters fully in and still it was soft. This year I also lowered the clamps in the forks by 5mm and it helped a lot, as the SB6 is very tiring in the track and with this modification turn in was better and easier.

Looking forward to see pics from your track day! I thought I was the only looney here Very Happy

I will keep you posted... going to drop the forks after the first couple of sessions if I cant find the neutral spot quick enough with damping adjustments. Should be easy enough i only have 4 clicks left to stiffen up so hopefully one of them will be ok Very Happy fingers crossed!!

great track pics
I would never take my SB8R on a track day - but I do at least one track day a month on this

pictured tipping in to Redgate on the Donington GP circuit last month.
I've done trackdays at 14 of the 17 tracks in mainland UK - 3 to go!

I am at silverstone for the gp circuit... mind you cadwell is acracking track. I am impressed with the rf900 trackbike or have you disguised gsxr under that fairing! Let me know if you have any others lined up, I am off for a couple of minths and want to get as many in as I can. Cheers Very Happy

much to a lot of riders disgust, it's a humble (humbling) RF600!
The 3 tracks I have left to do are Silverstone, Pembrey and Lydden Hill.
I did Brands Indy and Castle Combe on consecutive days 2 weeks ago - 600 mile round trip!
Brands is amazing, my second favourite after Cadwell.
Have a great day!

Cheers bud, even more impressed its a 600! Sounds like you have saved a couple of great tracks to do last. Pembrey is awesome for a little track. It was built as a test circuit for F1 so every corner is designed to be different... early apex, late entry etc. etc. Loads of run off to reduce damage to cars just slightly dangerous hairpin at the end of the finish straight... Hatchets by name and hatchets by nature! Keep it on the grey stuff!

how did your trackday go?
Cadwell was a washout - one and a half dry sessions all day.
I packed up and went home at 15:00 as I don't ride in the rain.

Washed out to! Drizzle all day which made the track super slippery instead of completely wet. Had just 1 dry session and the rest was trying to sort out suspension without having a chance to push hard and test it properly... Going out again on Friday to snetterton so fingers crossed itrs dry and I can try to crack it. But, I think I will have to send forks and shock away to be reworked and uprate springs and oils for my slim 15 stone!

Hi Aris,

Just finished looking through your threads..... wish i could understand greek, about the only things i knew were Laughing Mr. Green

I recently had a track dayon my sb6. I t was with the Honda Riders club around Sandown Park Raceway

http://www.sandown.net.au/

A few things i noticed very quickly:

I couldn't tuck my legs in enough to get the ball of my foot on the pegs, so i spent most of the day simply lifting my inside foot off the peg.

The fixed pegs freaked me out when it came to thinking about a crash, have any of you swapped them for folding pegs?

I had a great day, and the bike caused much interest.

Cheers

Steve

Just back from a hot and dry snetterton trackday... a suspension specialist had a go at the sb6 which kept washing out at the front when pushed hard. As suspected we soon ran out of adjustment and as I have no way of knowing the last time the forks and shock have been serviced I must assume never! So its strip down and send them off to be refreshed, cleaned and springs and oil checked. It would probably be ok for road but not worth that one corner when I need to tighten up under gas and it runs out of damping... doh. Keep you posted.

pleased that you got a warm & dry day - few and far between this summer!
I'm back at Cadwell on Monday for another attempt - hoping to get more than 1 session this time.
Pardon my ignorance, but what type of front fork is fitted to the SB6?
I've yet to play with the settings on my SB8R, but I'm sure there will be enough adjustment for the road. Maybe. Very Happy
