A traffic cop pulled over a foreign couple on a turbo Busa for going too slowly.

"But the road signs said the speed limit was 34mph", protested the rider.

"No", said the plod, "the A34 is the name of this road, not the speed limit."

The cop glanced at the girl on pillion. She looked pale and rigid, and her eyes were set in a frozen stare. "What's the matter with her?", he asked.

"I don't know", said the rider, "she's been like that since we came off the A229."
