Any one figured out a source or an alternative yet for the fragile SB6 fuel gauge sender unit |

Been in touch with woods motorcycles and spoke to Alan, excellent service.
Told him what I wanted, he emailed Bimota and got back to me next day.
For the low fuel light switch, woods quoted about £40 (ouch) but I could swallow that. Of course, that's plus vat and plus £3 postage, I could swallow that too. Bearing in mind this thing is about half the size and weight of my thumb and he cannot gaurentee how long it would take to arrive, he then tells me Bimota would also want between £15 and £30 to post it to Woods from Italy. That I cannot swallow. I could get a return flight to Italy cheaper.
Looks like I'll be running out of fuel again |

I managed to order parts last year from bimota through www.bimota.it and finally got my parts from the Bimota distributor in Greece.
The fuel level sensor was 45 Euros, and since I installed it I didn't have any problems. |

I did pay for shipping from Italy to Greece, but I ordered many parts and the shipping cost was reasonable.
Shipping for everything was 44 Euros, and it was a lot of parts, total was around 250 Euros...
The most expensive was the fork maintenance kit at 140 Euro + Tax.
The price for the fuel sensor alone was 45 Euro + Tax.
I had bought earlier a VDue fuel sensor from ebay as it was chepaer and looked similar but it didn't fit.

The price of the fuel sensor is more or less the same, including the + taxes bit.
Bimota must charge the £15-£30 shipping on every order which is fine if you've orderd many parts but I can't swallow £15-£30 just for the little tiny sensor |

Is your existing sender completely wrecked? One of the wires broke off the one on my R, so I crimped a round terminal to it and put it under one of the mounting bolts, which sorted it. _________________ What, Jonny's gone! |

Welcome to the forum JBB
Yep, Completly wrecked. No wires on the outside and no gubbins on the inside, In fact, not so much a sender as a plug.
No matter, one will come along eventually |

I'm all for that
Unfortunatly, I don't know where to get them from.
Bimota haven't got any so they tell me.
UKBIMOTA want to step in here and put a little pressure on the factory to have a batch made or find out where they originated and I'll go direct

There's only a fuel warning light on the SB6, it comes on quite often and isn't very helpful.
I monitor my bike's fuel through the trop odometer ... and try to fill up just over 100miles (approx 160kms). This is made more interesting by the trip odo usually jaming at 57miles, so I have to remember to turn it back to 0 at 50miles. Gotta love your bike huh ??? _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
