Just last weekend I acquired a 2008 Bimota DB5R with 3000 miles on it, and now here I am on this forum! I have been riding for 47 years, swapped a BMW R1100S for a Ducati Monster 1100S last January, and took the opportunity to swap that in on the DB5R last week.
Now I need to find out how to take care of this thing!

Best regards, Spike

Great choice Spike. Welcome to the forum... advice is ride it as often as you can. Leave them alone and they get lonely and start getting unwell! Very Happy

Welcome Spike...all we need now is pictures...and I can then see how close it is to my DB5R....although if yours is a 2008 then it may be the earlyier DS1000 engine and not the 1079 unit?

if you need any help just shout, I have workshop manual for this bike, the 1000 cc and 1100 cc units, original Bimota ones that are in electronic format so can be emailed....As Pomps says....ride it...maybe not like you stole it...but certainly ride it...afterall most of the wonder of Bimotas is riding them...with fair dose of also looking at them and sharing with others.. Laughing

Thanks 2bims! I would dearly love a copy of the shop book for this as I am accustomed to doing my own work on e bikes that I own.
Tis bike has a wet clutch, so I don't know what impact that has on the engine type. I will be riding this bike a lot, and all of my friends are envious as can be! Except for the guy that thinks that I should have gotten a KTM. Those things shake like a palsied chicken, tho......

Yup Spike...thats an "R" full carbon bodywork, Ohlins front and rear and nice extras such as the Zard Open titanium Cans.....

Wet clutch not so different to the engine, just makes for what I think are smoother gear changes and less noise than the old rattlie, thats all....

Not sure how tall you are from the piccie, but dont forget the footpegs have 3 levels of adjustment and yours are set at full height at the moment....remove the top bolt and swivel the footpegs round one step or two...and then adjust the gearchange and brake pedal levers if you want to feel a little less cramped...and the Rea Ohlins has a height adjuster ring also so that can go up or down...

Not usre if you have a manual choke lever on the left clutch side, if not, there is a button on the front face of the throttle assembly that you push in for easier starting, dont be tempted to twist the throttle when starting, the fuel injection cuts the flow if you do this, just pull the clutch and prod the button until it starts....You will find the morrors absolutely useless I'm afraid, another on here has modded them to be able to be used, I simply replaced with ones with more adjustment and longer arms...

PM me your email address and I'll send you a link to the Workshop manuals, as I'll have to upload them to a weshare file transfer site, as they are too big to email...Enjoy

The PM isn't working for me, here is what I tried to send:

Thanks for the info, the first thing that I did when I got the bike home was move the foot pegs all the way down!
Mine has the lever on the left bar for the starter enhancement, and it starts easier than the M1100S monster that I had!
I have some barend mirrors on now, and I'm looking at some replacements for the stockers on eBay now.
My email addy is spikethebike@comcast.net

Thanks, Spike

Not so much good eyes Brian...just use them a lot to look at Bims... Laughing

Files are on their way to you Spike, its for the early Mille...but they have specific sections in their anyhow for the R version, torque wrench settings, belts removal etc etc, all generic stuff that does all the 5's...
