|
|
As I live out here in the hinterlands there is a dearth of Bimota expertise. I am contemplating the acquisition of the Bimota diagnostic kit for my bike and I am wondering just what it is capable of in regards to engine tuning, and whether I really need it.
Thanks for any elucidation!

I have the top one, which I think is by far the most attractive! _________________ Spike C.

ok, you have the Pegaso ECU. I have the software for download the ECU software and I use it to do diagnostic, but with that ECU we have some limit for to do something _________________ http://bcomebimota.blogspot.it/ |

Is it possible to remap this ECU? With the stock Ducati ECU Rexxer makes it pretty easy, but if I want to install a free flowing air filter, like the MWR one that replaces the top of the airbox, the engine would probably be running too lean.
When I acquired this bike a month ago it was running pretty crappy, but a few tanks of fuel with injector cleaner in them has it working quite nicely now and I would like to keep it that way! _________________ Spike C.

Yes, it is possible to remap ECU Pegaso, you need Bimota software.
I think, but I never tried, it isn't possible to do with Rexxer.
In my opinion you don't need replace the air filter, because in the DB5 the air filter is just open check it before buy something.
If your bike just had the exhaust system mount i think it isn't necessary to remap the ECU, I think it was just ok.
Perhaps It depends from a old-fuel, with some residue. Use (I don't know how many octane the fuel has in USA) the fuel with more octane don't use every time the injector cleaner _________________ http://bcomebimota.blogspot.it/ |

Thank you for the input, the air filter that I was referring to does not replace the stock one, but replaces the airbox lid, so it increases the opening to the box, in effect.
The injectors seem to be nicely cleaned by the Techron so I will not be needing to use it anymore.
Frankly, with the way that this bike is working now I doubt that I will be doing any more fiddling about with system! _________________ Spike C.

I would have the same questions as SpikeC.
My ECU/display is the lower one.
The bike is 2013 DB5 E. |
