Can someone out there send me some detailed pictures of DB 1 bodywork off the bike, inside and out shots. Per previous post I am embarking on respraying my bodywork but after removing the bodywork and looking at available pictures it looks like the previous owner has modified the nose fairing to fit coffin shaped master cylinders and may have modified the bodywork around the foot brake linkage. I would post pictures but I am not sure how to do this and do not have anywhere to save on the web and post links to the pictures. Any tips or tricks on fully dismantling the bodywork would would be appreciated as well. The body work is pretty rough the removing as much on the non fiberglass parts the better and it will also please the painter.

The more detailed the pictures the better.

All help appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark....the Db1 is probably one of the easiest Bimotas to remove the bodywork...nose cone comes off first....2 large allen key bolts then hold the unit and quarter turn the 4 No dzus fasteners....then pull off the front...theres also a push stud on the underside that fits into a rubber socket that needs prising out.

then its the turn of the bellypan...3 dzus fasteners each side...and it falls away as a one piece unit.

then disconnect the front indicators from their electrical connections and under the seat unit unplug the wired connector for the rear light/rear indicators....then remove the four number allen key bolts (large bolts, then remove the furl filler cap...the whole unit then lifts off the bike...there is also an exhaust shroud one piece unit that has 2 no. bolts small..each side...but most bikes I've seen have had this removed..

Theres a video clip here of my DB1 with its bodywork off...and you can see the large allen key special Bimota bolts that hold the tank/seat unit in place and the rear electrical connector

And a few pictures on here for you

I can email pictures if you like, drop me your email address via pm...

I cant see why someone would modify the nose cone to fix black coffin box brembo masters...I've removed the old radial masters from mine and fitted gold series brembo masters no problems...but then I've retained the reservoir pots that sit on top of the forks...and are thus out of the way...maybe someone has trimmed the bodywork so as to fit higher clip ons so its comfier to ride??

Drop me you email and then maybe you can send some pictures...and I can see whats different or even post them up for you ...
