Did any magazine ever road test a DB5R? If not, why not?

Closest I ever found is a One page article in a magazine (UK Based)...giving specs and the price difference between this bike and the standard Db5S...Basicially saying that there was 4,000GBP worth of extra parts added...but price hike was a mere 1,500GBp between the 2 Bikes...let me have your email address and I'll gladly send a scan across for you to read, albeit a short read...

reason for no Bike Test? I suppose that they were in such a short production that no one had one to either lend or want to lend to a bunch of Journo hacks to thrash and crash........Lets face it, I'll bet the only way to test ride any New Bimota is to go direct to the factory....No dealer now in UK and when there was one (and only one) there was no test rides either....

french weekly magazine Moto Journal did a test of a DB5R and a Tesi 3D, years ago, still have it but should searching.
Text in french, no mesurement of performance, both bikes came from swiss importator and were special order about the colors (DB5R all red and Tesi Grey black)
If you want it I can scan it Cool

I have some DB5 Mille tests if you'll be happy with that...

The early Mille bikes had Ohlins front and rears so may be the best comparison of a test you can get, same suspension as the Db5R's...and not so down on power as they were Cat free...engine upped in size when cats fitted to compensate....

Wow! Thanks so much for posting this! What a nice writeup. What magazine is this from? I would like to see if I can dredge up a copy!

Spike, it is this magazine / book:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTO-ITALIA-MAGAZINE-ALAN-CATHCART-2005-Italian-motorcycles-Ducati-Moto-Guzzi-/360840293607?pt=UK_Magazines&hash=item5403c1ece7

I also bought it from ebay... Lots of other interesting articles in it as well.

I lost the auction for the Moto Italia book, but I won one for a copy of Bike from Oct 2007. It is not a road test, but a very neat article about using a DB5 as a courier bike in London! There is one passage that has me stumped, tho- one of those English English terms, you know.
"Strike a dropped Biro mid-bend and it sits up faster than a junkie hearing a dole cheque hit the doormat"
What is a "Biro"?

A Biro is a cheapo Bic Ball point pen...transparent clear casing...so its saying the bike stands up quickly at the slightest obstruction on the road surface....trying to say it is light , flickable, sensitive, and giving feedback to every undulation on the road surface...I suppose Laughing

How many pages is the article? Is it worth getting a copy?

The Bike mag has a section called "Summer in the City" and the Bimota covers 5 pages plus some pics in the section on surviving in a city environment.
Dispatching with a Bimota is a rather curious concept and is tarted as such. The bike in the article is a DB5S.
The issue is Oct 2007. My scanner went belly up so no piccies. Crying or Very sad
