Hello all
I have a 1999 DB4 hat needs a petcock or a rebuild kit to get her on the road after all these years. (she only has 300 miles on it)

Any advise or direction I can go would be greatly helpful.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure about the petcock. I do know that it's useless on the db4 unless you're removing the tank as it can't be reached with the bodywork on. Maybe you could just fot a dry break quick connector? Thats what i intend on doing if mine fails.

What color is your db4? Tricolor?
Cheers,
Brian

Contact BimotaBruce on www.ducati.ms forum. He lives near the rock store and knows Bimotas. He has a DB4 too and is rebuilding a Tesi. Great guy with a lot of Bimota knowledge.

Click on his link Brian...seems to be a Corse Model with the Open Corse titanium end can...so should also have a different tank to take the FCR39 Keihin Flatslide carbs normally fitted to that Tricolor....and an Ohlins shock...this one seems to also have an upgraded mag clutch cover thats been cut away also...and some strange tops on top of the Forks???

As Brian says....Petrol cock not accesible when fitted and no reserve anyhow so change its seals and keep it fitted or change for a Ducati type item...theres only one fuel line feeding off it to the vaccum pump ...or as I recall on the Kiehin carb equipped DB4's...there is no fuel pump...and no choke either...although a fuel pump can be fitted as theyre a bugger to start otherwise..make sure you have a good battery........

I've got one of these for my track bike. Looks like good quality and good price too. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171076279122?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_3980wt_1312

I use those also now Brian...lot easier than leaking duel everywhere..often called "dry break" connectors and even though a little dribbles out they are far easier than pulling hoses off fragile aged tank connectors....Similar price to the UK versions also

Great idea on the dry break connectors. I have them here at work, I am the operations director of a BMW Motorrad. yes the bike has the Corse kit w/ the smaller tank.

The only problem with the dry break idea is how do I bolt a outlet to the tank. The petcock was the outlet , it has two bolts and a o ring that bolt to the bottom of the tank.

I hadn't considered that. Been a while since I've looked at the db4 tank. I'd probably just replace it with a similar tap.

And done. I ordered two just incase. Thank you all so much for the help.
I am sure there will be many more questions as the project unfolds.

Hi there,

How do these petcocks fit and work? I might get one myself. The stock part is not leaking (yet?), but better have a spare one than a gasoline spilled bike.....

You cant quite see from the picture...but the top alloy flange piece has 2 holes in it for allen key bolts to bolt into the brass inserts resin fixed into the base of the tank....with a central hole in the tank for the nylon feed pipe and the green rubber O ring to seal it...standard fit...as long as your brass inserts in the base of the tank are intact and arent "turning" in on themselves......piece does have On/Off and reserve...although fairly useless when fitted as you cant reach it with the bodywork in position...needs to be taken off then tank lifted....
