So a couple of days ago I installed an air horn in place of the Italian meeper.
It sounds great, and is plugged into a dedicated circuit with a relay.
While I was hooking things up I noticed a cable with a red end on it that was just sitting there, next to the battery. How odd, I thought, the bike has been running great, what could it be for? The next day I went out to ride and the lights came on, the dash cycled through, and when the button was pushed the solenoid clicked butt no start!
I took a look at the wiring diagram and there were 2 cables to the positive side of the battery, one went only to the starter solenoid and the other went to the main 30 amp fuse. I was a bit confused as I had power to the lights and whatnot, and if the line to the fuse was to power all butt the starter, why was all of that other stuff getting juice?? And the wiring diagram showed a clear path from the battery to the starter motor, but the motor was not turning.
I went ahead and connected the wayward lead and every thing works as intended. Evidently all the thing needed was to be in proximity to the terminal! Or wedged in there somehow...... _________________ Spike C.
