Ok, the problem that I have is that I have limited time cupon for a 15% discount on accessories for mt DB5R from the local Ducati dealer and I have been paid cash for a project, but I can not think of anything to add to this bike! I have heated grips and an air horn and a controller for my heated jacket. I added billet fluid reservoirs, and now I am having a hard time thinking of something that will improve this wonderful beast!
The mirrors work now as well..... _________________ Spike C.

Maybe a nice stand or bike cover?
Some other suggestions -
Leather saddlebags
Skull handgrips with those tassle things hanging off them
Ape hangers

Or a good battery charger/ tender? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Well Brian, I have a PitBull stand and a nice red silky cover with Bimota on it so those are covered....I have skull bolts on the license plate and I just made a brass skull knob for the heated clothing controller, so I think I have enough of those...I've been cogitating on saddlebags, butt I don't want to burn stuff onto the pipes....do 2 inch rise clipons count as "apehangers"?
A Shorai battery and tender is a consideration tho!
Thanks for the input, keep 'em coming! _________________ Spike C.

The battery and tender is a sound option......saves so much weight....and has a higher Cols Cranking Ampeage...you'll think that the battery is trying to flip the bike over when you try one...dear but possibly worth it...but be sure to get the tender also......
I'm sure as you are finding....once you've bought a Db5R...it pretty much comes with top line gear all over from standard...reason why theyre so expensive in the first place...so it does make accessorising difficult...especially since you bought the R model with ohlins and carbon etc etc
Dont know what Clutch Slave cylinder you have on yours? Standard Ducati item? Oberon do a lovely billet anodised version thats guaranteed for life..available in many colours, or just black or silver...but not just added bling...they rapidly decrease the pressure needed to operate the clutch and will never leak like Ducati items
Other than that does your dealer offer the stick on protection for bodywork? Clear and colourless and protects against stone chips? But can be easily removed if needed?...
Other suggestions? Billet alternator inspection cover on left side? Or perhaps Carbon engine protectors...available for left and right side...but when people see them they think you must have crashed and put these on to hide damage.......... |

Thanks for the suggestion, 4Bims! I like the slave cylinder idea and I think I will do the Shorai battery and maintainer now as well. The only consideration re: the battery is that I have heard of them going tits up after 2 years or so....
Anyone have any experience in that regard? _________________ Spike C.

theres info here on other posts....essentially always use the recommended Shorai charger and not your own other trickle charge...and if cold...below 40 degrees....switch the bikes lights on and wait 30 seconds or so to heat up the battery before cranking the motor.........

Oh he's done that already after taking my advice..........the later models have 2 cats...one in the front pipe and one in the X-piece...from recollection the early model like Spikes just had the front cat and nothing in the X-piece......but hhes ticked that box already.......and his end cans are the titanium straight thru oval Zard cans...........makes a world of difference......... |

Spike,
I found this quite ok... Original is fine, specially from R version in carbon, but with this you can mount plate higher and rear end becomes visually lighter:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Kennzeichenhalter-BS-1-0-Melotti-S-P-for-BIMOTA-DB5-DB6-DB6-DELIRIO-/181175226356?pt=DE_Motorradteile&hash=item2a2ee28ff4
It is precisely made, but takes hour or two to fit. If you'll interested, I can send you photos of mounted piece. _________________ Bimota DB7, Bimota DB5 Mille, Ducati 916, Ducati M900, Benelli Tornado Tre |
