GeeKay, my DB2 is over there and has nicely scrubbed tyres from the other weekend if you get bored . The YB11 keeps up with just about anything. _________________ KB1x2, SB3 SB4 BB1 DB2 Vdue Evo YB11 RB1 Ducati MHR Suzi GS650 |

How many events do they have at the IOM each year, what are they called and what is the difference?
Is there just this major meeting (IOM TT?) and the one for historic bikes (Manx GP?) |

I'm sure others will chip in...but this week is practice week of the 37 miles all road circuit....white lines, bridges, kerbs, manholes, lumps and bumps...racing starts proper on Saturday...and they have supersport stock 600cc size bikes..little changes to suspension and thats about it..superstock 1000cc bikes and then the Factory superbikes..fully modded 1000cc...and theres sidecar racing and Zero emission electric bikes...and they are averaging 115miles per hour over the circuit...some races are 2 laps, 4 laps or 6 laps...all against the clock staged intervals....each day theres a racex2...then a rest day, and the public get to ride the track...although with speed limits...except over the mountain which for the 2 weeks is one way only...with no speed limits........changing climate around the circuit...change in altitude, exposure, wind etc...The Manx classic later in the year is pretty much the same but different classess for older bikes.......and they have road rallies for cars throughout the year.......basically 20,000 bikers descned onto the island for the 2 weeks...simply awesome on such a small island
More here for the interested....

Cool. Thanks 2bims. I was getting confused with the names. It looks like there are just the "TT" and the "Classic TT" for bikes. I see the Manx GP is a race within the Classic TT.
Is it madness and carnage when the public is let loose on the track?
Good luck to our buddy Aussie Alex Pickett who was fastest newcomer last year at the Classic GP at 109mph on his 851 Ducati. He is out there on the modern bikes this time. |

I'll keep an eye out for your Aussie.......should be interesting this year....some new good riders and Dunlops there on a BMW S1000RR hoping to get a TT win for BMW....would be their first in 75 years.......
Madness..Carnage??....in fairly equal measures...fortunately the speeds limited for the punters when theres no racing except across the mountain track.....so yeh...a few incidents and you have to keep your eyes open...looking forward to it |
