I was doing a bit of post ride fettling today and tried to remove the fuel tank on my DB5R.
I consider myself fairly competent with wrenches, and everything was going smoothly until I got to the so called "quick disconnect" fuel line fittings. I could not for the life of me figure out how to get those buggers apart!
Can someone please clue me in to the secret to these buggers?

BTW, the bike ran great the whole trip butt every now and then when cruising along at around 4k rpm it would "drop a shot", so to speak. Just a momentary skip in the gitalong, a dip in the tacho, and then back to business as usual. A little disconcerting, butt never escalating to anything else.

I've never seen a db5 but on a 749R the dicconnect fittings have a kind of a slide on them. Can't remember if you have to pull the slide or push the slide and then pull the fitting apart.

I've pushed, pulled and twisted and nothing seems to do anything!

Actually i was wrong with my earlier post, i remember now. If yours is the same as in the pic below... squeeze the sides where it is thin and then wiggle it off.

I've had the tank off my Db6 and Db5.....and I simply pulled the connecters after looking long and hard for a slide, a clip, a twist or whatever....they seem to just simply pull off...pretty sure thats what the manual says also...........

Heres the connecters on my DB6

Dont ask me whats going on with the ally plug on the return hose...it was like that when I took it off the bike.......Db5 had 2 normal connecters...both push fitted into the tank..........and both a simple "pull" to remove from the tank

On mine you must pull (lift) the red safety ring first and then you can pull whole thing out...

Thanks guys, I guess I just didn't pull hard enough! I was tugging on them pretty good, too. I have seen so many reports of the connectors on BMWs breaking that I was a little cautious about that......

I confirm, pull the red ring meanwhile you pull the fuel line.
My DB5 didn't work very well when I changed the exhaust system without change the map in ECU. After that I noted the engine works better with the fuel with more octanes (here in Italy we have Shell V-power).

Ok, I pulled the tank today to do the valves and one line would not budge, finally the line pulled off next to the Oetker clip, the other line came off ok at the quick release. The right side fitting just will not budge!
An old friend who is a long tome Ducati wrench is coming over tomorrow to check the clearances with me, then I have to figure out how to get all of this stuff back together again!
