Well its time to strip down and restore the tesi, she's done 8000 miles a 1000 by me and the rest by the worlds press who took great care in scuffing as much as they could. So will tear it all down and get everything painted, any suggestions on alternative paint schemes welcome. Saw a nice Black and silver scheme, but so far nothing that seems to beat the classic red and white.
Will try post piccy's as I go.

Yep many pics are a must with a resto thread.
Getting quite a few restoration threads on here now. Maybe we need a section just for restorations (of any model). What do you think Mr Admin?
These restoration threads are a fantastic source of info for all of us mere mortals. All the photo's are great reference material too.
Cheers and keep up the good work _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Yup, its all carbon with painted sections, apart from the fuel tank.
Am not a great fan of the all carbon version, I like a bit of carbon but not too much of it, much prefer a paint scheme with flashes of carbon showing through. So any of you arty types any ideas
At the moment, if I can't come up with anything better I will probably go with the red/white se version with gold wheels.
Will defo take many piccs as I go as it looks like a pretty compact jigsaw puzzle. |

I would stick to the original paint scheme for that one Waggy. The beauty is in the frame and swing arms, to odd a paint scheme may detract from it? All very exciting for a man stuck in a hotel room for months on end! _________________ Pomps

I'm sure they have Pay per Porn on the Hotel Channel, inbetween the pure motorcycling porn being posted on the Bimota forum....used to be accused of viewing Porn on my laptop in the early hours until Girlie saw I was just perusing the Forum.....
Would go along with the comments, italian design is best left alone, there are many smarter and more proficient designers being paid for their skills than mere other mortals, if it aint broke..... |

Maybe a splash of tricolour in an inconspicuous way? Otherwise, stick with the original scheme _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

tri colour would be nice, but can't quite visualise it; think i will go with the consensus and stay with the classic red/white.
Have took all the body work off, no tricky bits, its quite well thought out.

What type of front tyre is that, or is the back, no the front, yes, no,,yes definitely its the front, strange pattern.
GeeKay will be all over your stripdown piccies whilst he tries to put C3P0 back together.
Modern day tri-colors are more just a flash of green strip somewhere
Even Db7's have a flash or tricolor (if its a tricolor model, but mostly just a strip mirroring a red one on a white panel background, and tank is kept the same single colour, normally red

Still stripping things down, only thing I've come across is that both bolts that attach the front torque arms to the main alloy sideplates, had backed out a couple of turns, even though they had been loctited.
Its a 13mm bolt, so worth checking out.

worth checking the front mudguard mountings too, as it fell off the UK test bike.............
IF you get to remove the rear swingarm, do me a favour and measure the distance (approx) between pivot and rear wheel spindle centres. We are curious as to what the Tesi 3 runs. Ta. _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.
