anyone know how to get a few scratches out of the brushed finish frame? they aren't deep scratches, just need to restore the brushed finished look in a few places.
thanks. _________________ pete |

I couldn't tell you - I saw a De Lorian car being restored and they used a sissal mop. They got a specialist to take a ding out of the roof then he mopped the whole roof. I reckon you can do it with a drill - I'd use the slowest speed and practice first. You'll need to do the whole side.
Maybe look for a alloy polisher in your area and ask them then take the bike there and get it done.
If they're really tiny you might be able to wipe some scotchbrite over it but I'm not sure it would blend in _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Don't touch it until you know exactly what you are doing. Any sort of abrading will remove the anodising and leave a patch that is a different colour to the rest of the frame. This will corrode in the future.
Scotchbrite pads will give you a brush finish. To get something close to the factory finish, you would need to polish the whole frame, scotchbrite it, then get it re-anodised.
If you are just cleaning the frame, use non-abrasive cleaners. WD40 is good for loosening old oil and dirt.
What are you trying to achieve? |

Have you ever tried taking the anodising off these things ... I had a go at the swingarm, with a palm sander then a power sander and course papers ... I sent it off to a polishers to do it. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Wow! Usually even a quick rub with steel wool can usually ruin your nice anodised finish. |
