Chris, just checked mine. PVs are fully up (open) at standstill with engine off. Putting ignition on, cycles them to closed, then back to open.

Cheers JRH! Many thanks for checking.... That's good to hear, so I have put the cables on right way and the manual is slightly wrong in it's diagram.
Most of the parts turned up from Piero today apart from he forget to put the new cables in! Getting these slowly however....

ok so this is rather annoying.....
got the new PV pins. installed them and still have the same problem.
put one pin in and screw it into the valve. it then slides up and down very nicely.... take it out put one pin in the other side.... again slides up and down really easily. put both pins in, tighten them up and doesn't matter which side and then it sticks... so slacken one off and it's fine... So what's going on here.... the pins move up and down the bushes/sleeves no problem until both are tightened up the last 1/4 to 1/2 turn. not sure if it's one of the bushes/sleeves or the actual exhaust valve and the thread in the valve now. how would you tell if the bush/sleeve is inserted correctly. all looks flat on the barrel so nothing to untoward visibly...

I set mine up so they fall by them self's
You could try giving the bush a tap after
you know witch bush is not straight ?

You could ream the bush out a bit too ?

Are you doing them up to tight maybe ?

When fitting the top mount is it ok then ?

I guess it has to be a bush that isn't straight. Kinda hard to work out which one.

I'm only tightening them up with an allen key and they lock with very little tightening. I reckon your theory on the bush being slightly out is most likely. I'll go and play with that and see if I can find anything.
Putting the top mount on doesn't make any noticeable difference.
the bottom one is fine. I've been comparing it to this so that it is as free as this one for comparison and the only way I get this it to not tighten them up.

Well done Trev.
I should have emailed you or rang you up beforehand and ordering spares.
It was indeed the bush alignment. Blimey it was so little out you couldn't detect it by the naked eye. little tap on the offending side and it must now be seated square as tightening up the pins hand tight or lightly with the allen key and we get them dropping which it wouldn't do before.
So we have progress at last....
Just waiting on the servo cables now as they've freyed badly and need replacing. No surprise really given the stubborn nature of the pins. My suspicion is this has been like this all along. Hence the locating pin snapping. And was probably a build quality issue from the engine rebuilds.
Thanks for everyone's input, really appreciate it. Would have never solved this on my own.
