4" of snow here already and it's not even midday
I thought only you northerners got this sort of weather, not us soft midlander's
Reminds me of south Georgia
Think I'll drag the snowboards out and convince SWMBO that it's better than a skiing holiday. |

South Georgia? You got a crippled sub stuck down the road? _________________ Pomps

Not sure it's a sub, could be a car. Too much snow to tell
The sub in south Georgia is quite a site with just it's conning tower sticking up above the water, still tied up to the wall. a few shell holes in it too.
Not your work is it |

Nope... not me. I was with the main task force but I know who did hit it and the guys who scuppered it. Interestingly the only fatality on the south georgia on the argy side was the engineer looking after the bilge pumps on the sub as far as I remember. _________________ Pomps

He was wasting his time anyway as the bilge pumps on the Santa Fe weren't going to save it:lol:
WW2 Balao class subs weren't the best choice to be working deep south Atlantic |

Here you go. Santa Fe, ex uss catfish. There were attempts to salvage it (would have made a few razor blades) but all failed.
I think the rocket holes in the tower were made by the wasp chopper from HMS Endurance |

Thats affirmative about the wasp helo strike from Endurance but I believe it struck below the tower while the sub was skimming? The holes in the tower came from George Browns 84mm Carl Gustav anti tank gun...he was NP8901 squadron Marine detachment _________________ Pomps

Haha, just noticed your 1st photo has Canberra in the background. The only time she went to South Georgia while Santa Fe was there was a quick in and out half way thru the landings in San Carlos. You might see me on the upper decks if you had a big enough zoom! _________________ Pomps

The snow has arrived in Marlborough, ime for the girls to go sledding and me to lock myself in the garage and start up the bikes, clean and polish all the bits that are already clean and dream about warm spring days, early morning blats during the police change over hour and the smell of burning leather sliders...mmm can they botlte that? _________________ Pomps
