I weighed my spare forged DB6 & 7 wheels over Xmas, valves and cush drive but no disc's or tyre's.
(Man those DB7 wheels are light)

BST carbon.............................Front 2.95kg.......Rear 5 kg
Dymag 7 spoke forged alloy......Front 3.45kg.......Rear 5.9kg
Dymag carbon.........................Front 2.75kg.......Rear 4.75kg.
Db6/5 standard.......................Front 5kg............Rear 8.7kg
DB6 forrged Marvic 7 spoke .....Front 3.75kg........Rear 6.5kg ( with disc)
DB7 Y-forged .........................Front 2.85kg........Rear 5.25kg |

TBH I didn't weigh them as I thought I had already put them in the list. But next time I have the scales out I will try to remember to do the early gold 5 spokes (DB5R/6R) and the later Oz piega wheels.(BB3/DB5R/6R /Tesi etc) |

The 3 spoke wheels fitted to the first series DB2, SB7 and YB series bikes with the small hubs and Large offset rattly cast iron brembos were branded "Bimota" but made by Oscom….or is it Oscam….Is that where I'm going wrong? |

Hi, the Oscam's aren't particularly light, even the Thundercat wheel is lighter(just). Weights in kg are for fronts 3.5x17 with bearings
OSCAM(3 spoke) 5.5
DYMAG(magnesium 3 spoke/carbon rim) 3.2
MARCHESINI (magnesium 5 spoke) 3.0
MARCHESINI (forged aluminium 10 spoke) 3.6
YAMAHA THUNDERCAT 5.4
If I was wanting to keep the original look of a Bimota, 3 spoke Dymag CH3 (classic H section in white) would be the wheels to go for. Maxton made almost identical magnesium wheels to the Oscams but they would be so old they shouldn't be used on the road. _________________ Current-YB7, Gilera Nordwest, Triumph Tiger 800, Z650, MV F3 800

Weighed yesterday my DB2 front came in at 5.8kg and the rear (less cush) at 7.2kg so looks like there is a couple of KG that could be saved back and front with some lighetr wheels. ...Cant stump up the £2200 for the Dymags though so will keep looking! _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

Depending on the bike but I would have thought Marchesini hollow 3 spoke or the Dymag TT3 _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Updated listing (thanks Vort) with Oscam and Marvic Mag weights
Antera....................................Front 6kg ...........Rear 8.95kg = 14.95Kgs
Db6/5 standard.......................Front 5kg............Rear 8.7kg = 13.7 Kgs
Oscam...................................Front 5.85kg.......Rear 8.23= 14.08kg
Dymag 7 spoke forged alloy......Front 3.45kg........Rear 5.9kg = 9.35 Kgs
DB6 forged Marvic 7 spoke ......Front 3.75kg........Rear 5.5kg = 9.25 Kgs
Marvic Penta 1 .......................Front 3.09kg........Rear 5.15kg= 8.24kg
DB7 Y-forged ........................ Front 2.85kg........Rear 5.25kg = 8.10 Kgs
BST carbon.........................… Front 2.95kg...... .Rear 5 kg = 7.95 Kgs
Dymag carbon.....................… Front 2.75kg........Rear 4.75kg = 7.5 Kgs
all assumed to be on same basis ie bearings fitted but no tyres or discs and cush drive on rear (but no sprocket?)).
Interestingly , the tyres I took off my DB2 (Pilot 2CT) weighed in at 3.9kg and 4.9 kg respectively. So especially with light wheels the tyre itself is a major part of that reduced weight and 'dilutes' the impact of reduced wheel weights. Be interesting to see if different makes of comparable tyres weigh differently. I can feel another thread coming on'Tyre weights' but I can't say I've ever seen that weight data published?? _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

As you say, tyres make a big difference. On my race RD250LC, I lost nearly 2kg per wheel changing from Avon AM20/22 to Dunlop TT900GPs, and running tubeless. Quite a difference, particularly on a light bike. |

Congrats Neils....??...>Are they the alloy Dymags then? I have them on my DB4 in place of the Anteras...previously I had wheel wobbles at high speed needing a steering damper...with the dymags...no concern at all and no damper needed |

Yes they are the «new» alloy 7 spokes, they are lighter than the previous versions. Not tested them as it is -20`C at the moment |
