Is the FZR an SP? |
Yeah, it's an FZR400 2TK SP - close ratio gearbox, different cams and other bits to the standard FZR. Makes me laugh every time I ride it. The revs are insane when it gets between 10k and 14k. I worried about the db level for the trackday so I've bought a tatty standard 3EN1 silencer that I might have to try and fit. |
The standard 2TK can has the mounting hole about 25-30mm further forward than the 3EN1, or at least the 3EN2 that I had
You can just about see the mounting bolt holding the can and the bolt through the bottom of the pillion footrest stay. That's the standard 2TK can BTW it sounds silighty louder than the standard one low down and comes on song from 9k rpm and above _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

EC, I wish I could find a 2TK silencer but I've had no joy. I'm hoping I can repack the micron to quiet it down a bit
Here's the YB10....

great bunch of bikes.

Is that a square headlamp YB6 then?
the front indicators are further foward than on other YB4/6s. _________________ Bimota DB2 tricolore, Bimota YB4e.i, Ducati 851 tricolore, Ducati Hailwood Replica, 1968 Gitan Grillo sport, Yamaha GTS1000, Honda Deauville, Honda GB500 Clubman

Well spotted! Yes it is the one with the square headlight, I wasn't sure about it to begin with. Now I've seen it in the flesh, it looks OK. Just a bit different to the other YB's I've got. I was thinking of changing it to the more common twin headlights, but not sure now.
So much for me trying to stick to 400's, in an effort to slow down. Then I end up with three 1000's _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

Well done Lami. Not only a great collection but also a relief to get such an important collection in the right hands, where they will be looked after AND used for purpose ... Love it. I wish I could find bikes as clean as you do! _________________ Pomps

They look GREAT. Did you get them all from the same person or just get a good deal off the courier to fill his van
2BIMS is not going to be happy, that certainly beats his DB2/4/5 flush |

Cheers
All three of the 1000's are running. The YB10 had a flat battery, I charged it with my optimate but all that happened was a relay repeatedly clicked. Fitted a new battery and she's up and running.
I should be having Wed/Thur off work, so hopefully I'll be taking them all for MOT's.
The YB10 came from the Netherlands and the YB6/YB8 from Switzerland. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

Sometimes with batteries it's worth dropping a slave in parallel with the dud one. I had an odyssey one, was showing about 3v and even my CTEK and fancy (trade) Ring wouldn't touch it, they kept shutting down as the voltage was too low. Once a slave was hooked up it charged ok, good to go now. I thought it was scrap _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

The new bikes have had a good going over. Several fuel hoses have been replaced just to be safe, adjusted the rear brake switch on the YB8 so the brake light isn't on continuously, adjusted the chains, etc. Gave them a degrease and an initial clean. Then decided to book them in for an MOT. This took longer than anticipated, the MOT I mean.
Not often you see so many Bimotas at the MOT station.
All passed, with a couple of advisories, job done!
I'm not looking forward to next years MOT time! I think I'll stagger them a bit, lol. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |
