Just wondering if anyone has come across a tool for removing the top fork nuts that have a slot either side on the YB series with M1R's

A basin wrench in ally, filed to fit, is what you want here.

Actually had to look that one up I don't think we use basin wrench's over here never seen a plunber use one before.
I think I might just get a impact socket and weld a flat plate in an modify it.Just thought there might already be one available but it looks like those caps are a bimota thing as my 851 has normal nuts on top

Is it a raised outer ring with a slot in each side opposite each other???

How about these...adjustable angle grinder adjustment locking ring tools??

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=bimota&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=10&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC0.A0.H0.Xpin+wrench.TRS0&_nkw=pin+wrench&_sacat=0

Or pin wrenchs as they are sometimes called...come in various diameters
