Another interesting find. The new front wheel and steering head bearings have seals.

The originals do not, and do not have grooves for seals.

My originals are in excellent condition and I bought new ones as spares. But I will use the new ones with the seals.

Yes, they moved the front swing arm pivot closer to the engine mounts for the 400J. But why did they do that? In my opinion because they had the space from the shorter front cylinder and they wanted a better handling for the "Tesina". But this now leads to the fact that the 1100 engine with its longer front cylinder won't fit in the original 400J chassis. The only opportunity would be to use a Vyrus front swing arm which is thinner in the area of the front cyl head.

Rear swing arm pivot: I don't think Bimota used an own or special case. Why should they do that? I now believe there are two opportunities:
1. the early 600 SS engines had that pivot position originally and so the 400 had the same, or
2. the 350/400 SS had an own case with a pivot position different to the 600. This could be possible since the 350/400 has a 6-speed gearbox and the 600 and above all were 5-speed.
I'm still trying to clarify this but will need help from some Duc experts.

I saw you bought two new mufflers connections (don't know how it is called correctly in English). Which exhaust do you want to use?
Your rear subframe has only one fixation point for a muffler - on the right side. The rear subframe is different in this point to the 851 part, which has fixation points on both sides.

Closed bearings: the taper roller bearings inside the hub are additionally closed on the ES/EF and maybe on later SR. They used additional discs ando-rings for that.

Exhaust "hangers" as they call them....as hes fitting a completely different engine he'll need a one off exhaust system anyhow to thread through the swingarm/shock unit...and these are just hangers without the exhaust can straps

Hello.......you probably won't want to know this, but when fitting the Ducati engine into the Cagiva elefant frames a similar issue occurs with the engine.

Some Ducati cases have a slot rather than a hole for the swingarm....my 999 engine for example has exactly this fitment.
Other elefant/engine interfaces dictate the horizontal boring of the 'new' position which could be of paramount importance ie not machining the BIMOTA TESI Omega plates.
We pay about 150 GBP for a good engineer shop to bore a Ducati engine as supplied..ie complete not dismantled....it may be an alternative answer to your problem.
They bore them oversize and sleeve for the bearings accordingly....it is only a max of 3-5mm off centre from memory.

As for engines ....
a ST2 (944cc) converted to oil cooled only runs at 89bhp at the rear wheel with fuel injection and an ST2 ECU
or 86 bhp with 39mm FCR with a power commander and power module pick ups rather than the full ST2 ECU....very similar to your current wiring loom..

I hope this helps rather than confuses

Hi Reed

I wouldn't worry too much about the swing arm pivot position. Just run a shorter swing arm pivot like Ducati do - their bike's frames don't carry the swing arm pivot, and neither did my DB3 Mantra.
Only downside, as previously mentioned, would be that the removal of the pivot shaft would necessitate the removal of an Omega plate. And how often would you want to do that?

Anybody know how to get this last part out of the hub?

Is it threaded (I assume it is) LH or RH thread?

I have used heat and a breaker bar. No budging. I don't want to damage it.

Maybe a rattle gun might break it loose? Can't say for sure but I would guess R/H thread, don't see any reason for it to be L/H thread

This is how I take care of the second exhaust bracket mount.

I purchased a rear suspension link from an 848 and it works perfectly as a front link for the Tesi
I also made new rear link rods.
These have both RH and LH thread rod ends and allow adjustment without disassembly.

Front axle looks very similar to my 3D. The wheels have me interested, what is your overall idea on a paint scheme
