Forgive my non-Bimota question but thought you knowledgable chaps might be able to help.

I've just changed the fork seals in a CB250. Just wondering if you have to bleed the air out of the forks? I'm assuming that you just fill with the correct amount of fork oil and screw the cap on? I did work the cartridge up and down a few times with the cap off. I've been caught out the odd time when making assumptions

I've been working on my own bikes all my life but strangely never had a set of forks apart.

Cheers

You measure the air gap with the spring and spacer out, then assemble them I think.
Surprised that a CB250 has cartridges though

The CB250, being a budget bike, would only have damper rods forks, no cartridges.

After you have changed the seals and put the forks back together without the cap and spring, fill with roughly the right amount of oil, then pump them up and down to get the air out.

Then measure the oil level with the fork collapsed and the spring out. It should be about 150mm from the top. You would find the exact height in the manual or somewhere on the interweb.

Then it will be track ready. Wink

Thanks fellas. Sorry I'm not up to speed on fork terminology... yes i would say damper rods not cartridges. I could only find a spec sheet on the old girl and not a manual. The spec sheet only had the amount of oil (152cc) and not a height. I've put them together with that amount of oil so I'll just see how it rides. It's only a work hack so should be ok unless I have to outrun the coppers Laughing

Thanks again
