There have been helpful posts about the weight of different wheels, so how about the weight of different discs? Just how much weight does one save by switching to wave type discs over the stock ones, in particular the DB5R, but also in a general sense? _________________ Spike C.

It's not the weight saving that's central to the disks performance, you need to think about the friction coefficient and heat despersal first. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I'd go with evilchick on this one......but also add that the wavey discs added to the Bimota Db6 are probably heavier than the brembos on the DB5R....they are more steel than stainless steel and way thicker than the SS ones on the DB5R......I also find that even though they have the same masters and calipers...the efficiency in stopping in the rain is much reduced compared to the ss brembo ones |

After a bit of looking about i have come to the conclusion that the Brembo discs on the bike are the optimum setup for a road rider like myself. they don't weigh much with the alloy carriers and they stop with a vengeance, as I discovered when I flipped the bike over.
It is back to factory fresh condition now and I am healed up so I need to find something else to fiddle with. I just received fresh belts and will be doing the valves soon, so that should satisfy me for a bit! _________________ Spike C.

some are heavy.
My full floating Furano stock iron disc and aluminium carrier weight 1.5kg each. Very heavy, 3kg for both is probably a lot more than a modern sportsbike _________________ YB8EI |
