So, now I find I have a frayed cable I need to replace that serves the EXUP valve. It runs tight in between the engine and the front of the swinging arm.... anybody done one of these ?
I'm thinking I can just slide out the pivot bolt/rod and ease the swinging arm back enough to slip the new cable through...?

Although I do not have that bike, I have found that taping the new cable to the old cable makes it pretty easy to pull the new cable into place. _________________ Spike C.

It's not the access that's a problem, it's that the gap is only just large enough for the cable itself meaning that neither end with nuts and adjusters fit through. |

If you use a Venhill repair kit for an exup cable you could:
Measure the distance from nipple to sheath end
Tape the existing damaged cable to something so it wont move
Cut the frayed cable core and pull it out of the sheath
Feed the new core into the existing sheath
Fit the nipple to the required distance and cut the excess
Remove the tape and reset the exup

Well that's a great idea but I can't do that cos a 'helpful' friend has already cut and removed the offending cable.
Next time though..... |

New Yamaha cables are available. Just remember there are different lengths from them under different part numbers.
Oh and dont replace an inner and solder on the end at the exhaust pulley, know someone who done that - its gets hot enough to melt solder. _________________ YB8EI |
