Beaut pics Bud. Wish I could have been there. Must admit I've never seen a yb5 race bike before! _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Did you take any bikes down to the Island Classic this year Lech? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

No Bimota this time.
I took my 1990 TZ250A and my 1978 TZ350E so it was a two stroke fest for me.

It was a pretty average weekend. The TZ250A was down on acceleration according to my GPS lap timer and 28kmh down on top speed. I'll pull the motor down this week and see what's wrong.
The TZ350 was a surprise. It needed a full rebuild and the frame re-welded the week before the races and I didn't expect it to last but it did! I hadn't ridden this bike for 2 years. I would need to ride it more often to get the set-up correct. Mal Pitman was very helpful with tweaking the suspension and it was much better by the end of the weekend.
Qualifying in the rain sucks. But at least we went out and did it, unlike the International Challenge competitors (including Jeremy McWilliams, John McGuinness, Ryan Farquar etc). I can't understand why they didn't and it totally mucked up the race programme where they ended up cutting our races to 3 laps.
Regardless of this, Phillip Island is still a great track to race on, just not a great place if you're a seagull. |

Cool. I didn't see anything posted on FB Lech, maybe I missed it. As always, your TZ's are looking great in the pic. I really need to make the effort to get down to the Island classic next year. I'd like to get to the Barry Sheene festival of speed too but not possible this year again. Work is really getting in the way of my social life _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

YB5, the fairing and seat unit 'chops' make it look a lot lighter and sportier than the original. could VERY happily have one of those in the shed!!
Lots of big bore and tuning to be had for big FJ's. Several now racing in Post Classic classes in UK.. often beating much younger machinery! _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

That Yb5 is just about as beautiful as my heart can stand to see. Thank you for it.
And I have to say also that the tyres are delightfully used on it, stripless as they should be.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful..... |

This bike just set pole position for the Barry Sheene Feature Race yesterday at our Barry Sheene Festival of Speed.
The rider Chas Hern works for the Bimota importer in Australia so we've been having a good chat about all things Bimota. |
