Ive heard & read differing accounts as to the exact person(s) who were responsible for designing the SB8K SantaMonica .

Does anyone know exactly who penned this Gem of a bike ???

Hmmm....seems an easy one but quick searches draw clues but no definitive answer....Evidently spawned from the SB8R which was created during Ex Laverdas Boss , Francesco Tognon, and under the direction of his new Chief Designer Francesco Medici, and then there's the composite chassis designed frame by Pierluigi Marconi , his final creation for Bimota , using technology borrowed from Cagiva's 500cc Grand Prix bike, and bodywork was by stylist Massimo Giovagnoli.......

But that was 1998-2000...and the Santa was 2004....Bimotas most troubled times.....certainly you can see borrowed parts from other Bimotas....swingarm is Bimota Vdue....and you have duckbill rear end and seat unit....similar to Vdue on the SB8R....and the vdue was Sergio Robbiano....who came back in 2005 to design the DB5 and later DB6.......

Probably no one definitive answer, theres engineers, stylists and technology...and some clues and hints from previous models....Do you have a copy of the original Santa Monica Fold out Sales brochure? Maybe it mentions more in there?

Curious. I did stumble on this site the other evening. It gives some insight to the brilliant designer that Robbiano was.

The Santa Monica is a hybrid for sure. The headlights are a little bug-eyed but the rest looks like inspiration was from parts bins. I like it though.
