as the one fitted to my bike isn't perfect, I bid on this item on Ebay Germany
but once it passed my maximum bid (£250) I lost interest.
so imagine my surprise when this item appeared on Yahoo! Japan - for £38!!!
with delivery + taxes + £20's worth of polishing at my mates, it should stand me at around £100 - bargain!! |

Did you bid and win it then? Great call if you did... how's your nippon language course going anyway? _________________ Pomps

won it - mine was the only bid!
should be with me next week, then it will be off for polishing.
strangely (or not - it's Bimota after all) this is the fourth different
exhaust I have seen for the DB2. My original is different to Madsfooks, both of these being different to the one on ebay Germany, and this one, although very similar to my original, is different in that the outlets are angled, whereas mine have a straight exit. All very confusing.
Japanese has come on leaps and bounds since I located the "translate" function on Yahoo! |

thanks for the offer John!
fortunately, a mate has a powder-coating / polishing / chroming business... |

I have decided to have the tailpipes from Japan plastic coated in satin black, with the end caps polished alloy and the "Y" piece of exhaust pipe sprayed with heat resistant paint and cured in the oven.
So, whilst I'm waiting for that to be completed, I thought I would have a tinker with the "standard" system that came with the bike.
The alloy sleeves didn't look too clever and beyond being polished-up, also one of them had a chunk missing. And the baffle tubes rattled in both cans. And one of the retaining studs had sheared off
These are the original sleeves......
the bit you could see on the bike
and the bit you couldn't see..........
so I've purchased 2 carbon fibre sleeves and wrapped the baffle tubes with some proper material and "borrowed" some 6mm threaded rod from work. Also had a pair of decibel killers made for track days.
This is the "kit" pre-assembly.
the end cap with the 6mm rods attached and db killer fitted
the end cap outlet with db killer in place
have just Araldited the mounting plates into the carbon sleeves, so leaving them overnight to set, then it's re-assembly time. Before and after pics to follow. |
