My "Local" Main Ducati Dealer, Ducati Manchester...which is less than a mile from mine.........Have used them before and often find spares can be cheaper direct than from ebay for hard to find parts.....I do just drop the engine off though...as at least that part they are familiar with...although they have gotten used to dealing with Bimotas over the years with me.....Thy have a sister shop near Preston that used to be a Bimota dealer....but just once for a year...as they found the back-up from the factory completely non-existant.....and Bimota not paying for Warranty issues....so had to cover these themselves...once bitten twice shy I'm afraid.
Dealing with lads there that I know over the years....on "mates rates"...not such an issue to throw it back together...but I was after a main dealer "comeback" if one of the bolts was to fail again...or the engine have leaks etc....thought it best to pay a little extra for the potential effort that may be involved... |

Long overdue Update....And the good news is...."She lives....".......Engine was picked up on Saturday and inbetween rain showers and sun I've spent the last 3 days reassembling and sorting electrics......But...come the first splash of 2 litres of 97 grade.....she fired up on fourth prod after priming the carbs....and a couple more prods to get her to accept a tickle from the throttle to rev cleanly and then idle at 1,000 revs or so....and so far so good...all electrics working...........Will update with pictures before she sets herself on fire...as I did have a slight fuel leak from the Low fuel warning sender unit....seal must have dried out with the tank being empty for the last 2 months....which then promptly leaked onto the heat shield after which it drops it onto the rear header....Oops...... Fortunately I spotted it and temp plugged it before she went up in flames.....so a little more work needed yet |

I promised a few pictures so here goes......Finally back together and running...and I dont have any spare bolts left either which is a first...well..apart from the fairing and seat/tank unit bolts that is which arent fitted yet.....
Nice new Push pull throttle cables and twist fitted...getting hard to find nowadays with the advent of fuel injected engines...
New Oil line banjo bolts and lines
Polished rear header already going a nice golden colour with first start up....and rear valve cover powder coating and barrel and head paint holding up so far also.....
Shiney front header going the same way
Oil line fixings cleaned up nicely....
Nicely made down and up exhaust system to fit in front of swingarm and offset for rear shock....
Newly powder coated Ohlins spring, colour change from red....
Oil and filter change tomorrow now that I've tested the engine out on first fill of oil...
Rear concentric adjusting spanners still attached until I refit the chain and adjust the chain properly...
Record mileage for date of rebuild status...
K&N cone filters have been cleaned and re-oiled....
and now step back pictures for the big-ish....reveal...
So.....An oil change and filter....refit chain and front sprocket,,,clothes back on and it'll be down the MOT station to hopefully get some use before Summers Over..........more piccies when fully dressed |

Hi Steve, The bike is a credit to you. Cant wait to see it in the flesh, we will have to get together when I return from my trip abroad. I may want some help in posting some pics from Switzerland. _________________ Bimota DB10, Suzuki TS250, Kawasaki Z1A, T120 Trton, AJS650, KTM690 Duke |

Will do Glen....and it would give you a chance to extend your riding experience of Bimotas by adding another model "ridden"....You'd like this one for sure.....very raw and addictive...and no silly slipper clutch, or fuel injection....just twist, hold on tight...and go....Tis also louder than the Db5R...and more characteristic with the flatslides and K&N filters.....a true symphony of engine noise |

Fantastic job. Attention to detail really stands out. And I like your home-made eccentric chain-adjuster wrenches. Another great idea for all to copy, thanks to this forum. _________________ 2013 retro Italian agricultural device
