I have been a member of the forum for some time since starting my quest to find a Bimota V Due.

I have looked at a few, nearly brough2, but was never really satisfied myself 100% that is was the right bike.

But now I have found one and am more than satisfied of the purchase.

The question I have though, is that the bike has never been registered in Europe but is being supplied with a of information.

An official letter from Bimota showing the date the bike was made showing engine and frame numbers. which has an official Bimota stamp and signature

Certificate from the ministry of transport showing the make and model and dimensions etc and the same from Bimota which has an official Bimota stamp and signature

Bill of sale showing all details about the bike and that it has not been registered as it has been a promotional bike, but it is stated that the bike has done over 7,000kms which I believe is due to not paying VAT on a new bike?

What is the process for registering it in the UK?

Many Thanks

Ade

Hi ade.....theres a fair few posts on here already regards registering "imports" in the UK....It sounds like you have received one of the "standard" packages of paperwork from Piero who bought to the rights to Bimota s.p.a....not to be confused with the still operating Bimota company itself....

Where did you buy the bike from? UK dealer/private owner or direct from Italy/other european country?

Firstly a NOVA needs to be done....Notification of Vehicle Arrival into the UK using the UK govt portal for HMRC......there are 2 sets of guidance notes you should read through prior to starting the NOVA form....A NOVA should be done within 2 weeks of the vehicles arrival into the UK or else theres a 8gbp fine per day of late notification....

After that is done....VAT is paid if due...by yourself...or a notification that no VAT is due is received...which is then automatically logged with the DVLA for their registration process check.

Then you need an insurance cover note certificate and a Valid MOT certificate.....Does the bike have the Euro or UK headlight? does it kick up to the left or right? Or do you have a friendly MOT tester?...then its V55 time to be filled in and sent off with MOT cert....NOVA notification....Insurance cover note thats usually only valid for 30 days.....money to cover for first registration fee and Road tax....then a new V5 showing you as the first registered UK owner should plop through your letter box....

I am presuming that the vehicle does not actually show 7,000kms on the clocks? And possibly its Zero? Do they read in Kms or miles?.....

And..just out of interest....a fuel injection model or carbie? Pictures?....

My only other concern is that with your previous posts folk have tried to help you but that you havent bothered to reply to any of them?....No rules on here but it is nice to reply to people to keep the forum active and interesting...rather than just "use" for your own ends...ahem....just a bunch of friendly helpful folk here that encourage members and riders and owners of Fine motorcycles...

Hi,

And thanks for the reply and your useful information.

The bike is brand new - Carbed version with the updates and it has the race engine in. It has the race package, Jolly Exhausts and ECU upgrades and Carbon fairings with the exception of the Tank, it also has PVM 6 spoke wheels, and its from Piero.

He has called it the Carbon bike and has made 2 and I believe he is keeping one of them for himself.

Just about to pay for it and confirm the courier back to the UK.

I have asked a few questions and replied to a number through PM and got to know a number of people through the forum which I find very useful and your right a very welcoming group.

Many Thanks

Ade

Please get this weighed accurately when you get it (with empty petrol tank or at least known contents) . With the wheels and carbon it would be very interesting to see a 'wet' (oils and fluids) weight. (Better do it when new cause road dirt could add a considerable %ge to the grand total when its used!!)

I will have to wait until I get the bike to have a good look at it without the fairings on and will let you know about the radiator. I will get a few pictures of it at this point.

I think I will set up a New tread on the actual weight and offer an appropriate prize for the closest!

Re: weight, I weighed mine with a bathroom scale, one wheel at a time, then had a Ducati shop put it on their didgital scale, and the numbers agreed. 400# even with just over half tank of gas.

Hi All,

Ok the bike is purchased and awaiting the courier to collect next week.

The clocks have been changed to MPH but Piero does not have a UK headlight.

Any ideas where these can be purchased from?

Many Thanks

Ade

Congrats Ade.....hopefully you wont be dissappointed.....and then you can come back here to fix all the little niggly things that Any Vdue from Piero comes with....nothing major and all can be sorted...I'll bet the clocks go erratic speed wise over 40-50mph...reading anything up to 200mph....easy sort though...just pad the front wheel sensor out a couple of washers further back....

UK Vdue headlight? Really is your first Bim I gather?....I also think you'd be the only person to either find one or be using one if you could find one....best to find a friendly local MOT man who makes you a brew while the computer log on time ticks away.....and ahem....prints out the test certificate for you...

Units are FZR400RR but they're getting rare and even on ebay 2nd hand ones can be dear and usually come without the expensive bulbs these units use......as the bike will presumably be going onto a age related number plate.....and not be registered as "new" on a 16 plate...a headlight beam deflector (aka black pvc tape) can be used to get it through an MOT...if you were going the new route you'd have to take it for an MSVA and then they dont accept deflectors that are stick on type....they wouldnt accept the Jolly motos either...no way would they pass the sound test.....so again...I presume you arent going that route....
