Hello
Can anybody tell me if the rear light is a bought in item ie Yamaha? or a Bimota part, mine has developed two stress cracks around the screws and I would like to replace.
Cheers |

Such things like headlights are always bought in and not Bimota specific...is yours one with 2 red circles in a rectangular box? So it looks like a twin bulb unit but is actually a red reflector on the back inside and just a single bulb but lights up like its a twin bulb?
Spares are found in the same place as Rocking horse poo and Dodo's....I believe the same unit was also used on the Cagiva Freccia...itself a rarer bike than DB2's....
You could check with bcp...you never know

I also know that Moto Morini 350 Dart units are the same size and back plate....but dont have the "trompe l'oiel" twin red ring look....as per North Leicester Motorcycles bike....they used to have spare rear light units and lenses...always worth asking....

Thats a tri.o.m. 22.0059-1 unit....which is also fitted to the MotoMorini Dart 350 bike.........Now whether this unit is what Bimota used on the DB2FE or not is uncertain...not many FE's around...and the "twin red circle" but single bulb unit from the Cagiva Freccia 125cc bike...is a 1988 bike...so maybe those units werent being made anymore when the FE bike came out in late 1997....
Also...your bike came from North Leicester Motorcycles...and they sold me the exact same rear light unit that I have as a "spare"...saying it was MotoMoriniDart...but same as Db2...so maybe they put a new one on from their stock...or maybe the bike had it originally.........Either way its interchangeable with the same back plate and screws...and still lights up the number plate in the original way...still a single bulb...just without the fake twin red rings as the early DB2's.... |

Just looked through some photos of my old DB2EF and my tail light appears to be the same as the Rich's EF, so as 2bims suggests, maybe the EFs had a different lens to earlier DB2 models.

Thats a late registration...a Y plate....I have a DB4 thats on a W and should have been after the DB2FE...I see that you had the "special" rear stand for the DB2 also...with the pins either end to push fit into the concentrics...never seen one before....being a kind hearted soul I suppose it went with the bike to its new owner?? |
