Well, generally my luck is pretty good, then occasionally I have a run of disaters which seems to be happening at the moment Smile

My new engine is showing as being in the local depot ready for delivery Very Happy
Piero has told me that it was an injected engine that was dismantled in 2001 for carb conversion having done 50 - 100 miles, it was then rebuilt by his mechanic in 2015.

Do you think I will need to check the sprag clutch?
I will definatly be checking the head bolts Laughing

Sprag ??? you never know, but should be fine , for now Shocked Think I got about 500 miles out of my first one Laughing best to always have a spare in , just in case.

There are only a few engines that did not start life as injections, so do worry about that to much, Piero will have done a good job on it , give it a cursory check over , fit it and get it run in , then if required, once you had the summer fun on it you can check over winter and greplace the sprag if needed.

All good advice vort, 500 miles from your first, not too good.
I did order a spare when I changed my first. I think I may still strip it down and check it while it is out of the bike, should only take around an hour to complete on the bench, if I leave it until winter, will have to remove fairings, airboxes and drain coolant and cleaning mating surfaces while rolling around on the cold floor.

Is a simplier task with engine out as no need to remove clutch assy from memory. You can remove the RH casing with the clutch basket/carrier still in place. Therefore no need to remove the 4 prong nut.
But still think it will be ok from Piero.
Its the design that is not great, it will always wear and need replacing.

Well, I didn't check the sprag before I put the new engine in and now, after 40 miles, its gone again.

Fortunatly I ordered enough spares the first time and as I have done one already it should be a quick job.

Wow, that is bad luck. Not usually that few miles.

You can get very similar symptoms from a bad earth or low battery. ( had all on mine) . Vdue electrics do not seem the best might be worth a look over. Do/have you ridden in the wet ?

No, I don't ride in the wet. The Battery is new and fully charged, I'll double check the Earth.
Should only take a few hours to check the sprag.
