Found that on line a few years ago, in a bike shop in Milan. It was BRAND spanking new, never been ridden and had one K on the clock. The shop owner's father had a apparently worked at the Bimota Factory and bought it but the guy did not " trust " the front end and never rode it.
It's a nice bike to ride " sedately " (no faster than 90 ish ) and I love the way people do a double take when they realize there are no forks and then they try to work out how you steer the thing.
The only two things I don't like is the limited lock - a bugger when you are turning in a confined space like a car park, and the self retracting stand.
Love that Ducati sound though
As for the helmet, couldn't resist it for a laugh.

You need to put something in between the SB8R and the wall when you are doing the burnouts - it's marking the paint on the wall _________________ Now - SB6R, GSX1400, KTM 990 SuperDuke
Then - H2A Trip, GSX1000R , EXC400, TZ250, R1, TL1000S, 1100 Kat, RG500, RD500, GPZ 900R GPZ1100 UniT, GSX1100, Z650
It was like that when I got here |

How do you like riding the Dieci compared to others?
Nice collection by the way. I'm half way there _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Hi
I bought the YB10 as it was a Bimota and it was not expensive. I rode it from the UK to my home in France. As the reserve switch wasn't working I was stopping at every other gas station to fill up as I was worried about running out of fuel. As I wasn't really a Yamaha fan I did not ride it much. Met some woman and went to America for seven years (got married) and the bike sat at home.
Came back and still didn't ride it much as I was going to clean her up and sell her and put the money towards an SB6R. Started working for some guy who took on another guy who was a biker and had a GSXR and whose dream bike was an SB6. To cut a long story short I started to ride the YB10 to work to piss him off. The more I rode it the more I liked it. It handles great the motor is awesome and apart from running out of fuel twice I love it.
The SB8R is sore on the arms. You can't ride it at less than 120/130 KPH, it just doesn't like it. It likes sweeping curves and straight roads. It is not very forgiving. The SB6 is lovely, I love the sound it makes. I love the look of it I'm not very tall but I can put both feet on the ground, but it is manic balls to the wall thrash the shit out of it. Handles lovely and goes like shit off a hot shovel.
The YB10 is happy at 30 miles an hour or a hundred and thirty. She is very forgiving if you make a mistake, comfy and turns heads just like any Bimota does. Do I still want to sell it. Well I would love an SB6R and if I could afford one with out selling the YB10 then I would hang on to the 10. For the moment I'll hang on to Miss 10. She needs a but of touching up, road chips and scratches and new tyres. But honestly she is a lovely bike to ride. Comfy and above all a Bimota. |

Funny how it seems that SB6R is the Bimota model that gets the juices flowing. My love affair with Bimota started with SB6R that was unfortunately sold from under me by an unscrupulous dealer.
Unfortunately I haven't experienced the full long term effect of the SB8R as I had it down with a leaky clutch cover. Thankfully I just received an OE cover (last one from the warehouse in US) and my billet cover is finally ready.
However, I did experience the joy of the Dieci and concur with you 100%. Mine is a daily rider with rock chips and such on the fairing. The seller removed the pesky reserve switch but didn't install fuel filters. I am in the finishing stages of getting the fuel tank assembled - someone suggested coating it from the inside after a thorough clean to keep it from distorting. Process takes 3 weeks to complete and I have yet to drop off the tank to the jobber.
All my friends drool over the SB8R because of its looks and sound (some of them did hear it run). I'm still on the fence but one thing for sure for now - the 10 is a keeper. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

I started with the SB6. I was going to get a 916 but my mate who happened to be a Suzuki mechanic talked me out of it and the bike shop he worked at had a brand new SB6 and as it happened a Red/White in for sale. They let me take the R/W one for a test ride and I was hooked. My sister calls it Betty Boo cause of her shape from behind. I'm just greedy and would like an SB6R.
A mate of mine, who lusts after the SB8, was going for a ride with his buddies and asked if I wanted to come along. I took the 8 and after a whole day on twisty French country roads my wrists and neck were so sore. The next day I felt like I had been doing wrist curls and shrugs all day.
My daily ride is a 94 ZZR1100. I don't like riding my Bims in the rain. I just don't want to risk dropping one. I came a cropper on the ZZR one morning when I came round a bend to find the road completely covered in mud from some bloody farmer. But I do enjoy riding the 10. Still trying to find a fuel reserve switch.
Happy Riding |

When the weather is fair, and that's about 80% of the time in Southern California, my daily ride is an '04 BMW R11S BCR. The 10 is not a fan of traffic as it starts to heat up when ridden at low speeds for prolonged periods of time.
As for reserve switch you may have seen my thread bitching about the lack of it and the crappy petcock set up that came with the bike. I finally came across two Acerbis petcocks that fit perfectly including alignment of "out" nozzles. I don't recall ever having a bike with fuel indicator gauge and don't trust "idiot" lights for low fuel after running out of fuel on another Beemer I used to ride. Hence I have a rule of filling up every time trip odometer hits 100. Luckily there's an abundance of gas stations where I ride.
Enjoy your rides! _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10
