I was recently fortunate enough to pick up a '98 SB6R in a trade deal. Low mileage bike, 3k miles, but it has been sitting for at least seven years. It had begun to run poorly and the previous owner started to take the bike apart to access the carbs so they could be serviced/cleaned.

Over the last seven years he has lost the assorted hardware (nuts, bolts) that were removed. Is my best option to pour over Bimota parts diagrams and make a list of the size and style of each nut and bolt needed? I'd prefer for the bike to be put back together as correctly as possible using the correct type and style of hardware.

Parts removed: exhaust, air box, petrol tank, seat unit, taillight, battery box...

Hi...and welcome to the Forum....if you register on BimotaClassicParts.com....you get free access to the spare parts diagrams and part numbers and importantly Bolt Sizes also for each and every bolt on the bike....

http://www.sfogliami.it/flip.asp?sc=zl24f0riuzgzanqblqkrx84fb59hst4h&ID=117609#page/50

Mostly Bimota use "low Head allen Bolts" or low head socket bolts like below......and these will fit flush in the various recess, sockets, caps etc....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M3-M4-M5-M6-A2-STAINLESS-LOW-HEAD-SOCKET-CAP-SCREWS-ALLEN-KEY-BOLTS-HEX-HEAD-/191476695214?var=&hash=item2c94e680ae:m:mvh58a8JnljAJMk1Gf0miPg

At least on the spare parts diagrams it gives you Size and length of bolt, types of washers etc etc.....which should make life easier....M6x16 for example being 6mm diameter and 16mm threaded length (excludes head length)....They will show you a standard bolt and pciture thereof....but also include the number required to complete each part of assembly....
Vite TCEI = Allen head screw
Ranella D6 = D6 type washer....etc etc

Wish I could give you and answer to that, although I should have clarified just the mufflers (titanium Corse units) have been pulled, the head pipes are still attached. Swingarm and wheel, etc are still there.

Many thanks for the help 2bims, it's appreciated! Looks like I have some 'research' to do!
