Thanks in part to the support and information given by members of this forum, I've received from Bimota their version of a certificate of conformity for my actual bike, with the frame number noted, and a copy of the DGM Homologation papers from when the DB2 was first released, dated December 1992. It's quite an interesting document if you're a bit of a nerd like me and I can photograph it and email to someone to release on the forum if anyone's interested.
I'm sure that what swung it my way for the COC was being able to tell the factory that NO DB2 sent to the UK had a DGM no. entered on the VIN plate. (Hey! That's enough acronyms!)
So a big thank you to the forum members who helped me.
It still remains to be seen if these factory documents are enough for the French bureaucrats. I should know later this week.
In the end Bimota (especially Maria Elena Rozier in customer care) were helpful and responsive and seemed to actually care about the owners of older models too. I was left with a good feeling after my dealings with them.
Anyway guys (and girls?) wish me luck when I go to try and register her.
Au revoir,
Kit |

Good news Kit. If you don't mind, it might be good to post a copy of the document on here as it might help people in the future in a similar situation _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

For anyone else needing similar...heres the documents kindly provided by Bimota Factory....nice to see them helping out where they can....had a bit of a laugh looking through them....as my Db2 no longer has the same silencers, cat link pipe, airbox, carbs, engine...etc etc etc....Fortunately for me its already reg'd in good ol UK...and whilst we like to moan about our country...it is still relatively easy to register old bikes over here...
Complex set of info...makes the New EuroCoC one page form look like childs play.... |
