It's going to be very tight in there with both bikes, not wide or tall enough...

Looks like i'm going to be doing some work in Sydney, so i'll be driving up Wednesday, if you see a blue discovery towing a grey trailer it's me Smile

Safe drive, looking forward to catching up at the camp ground...

It's getting close now. This is your last weekend to get ready. Everyone on the email list should have received the final details by now. The numbers are still hovering around 25 bikes which is great. Garage #16 and thereabouts will be the place to be.

We've got 4 bikes racing in the event - a YB5, 2 x YB8s and a DB1 - and we're all pitted with each other. It should be quite a spectacle.

That sounds like a cracking line-up Bud....Do you have a list of whats intended to arrive?

We're hovering around at the 36 bike mark....with 34 of them being Bimotas....and 2 others inspired by Bimotas, or designed by designers who plied their trade at Bimota....

We're leaving Monday and will take our time getting to Sydney.

Due to me being a slack arse, I didn't get the enclosed trailer rebuilt, so the Bims will be travelling to Sydney in the open trailer. No doubt I'll have to give the bikes a clean again when I get there but that's ok.

Getting excited now and looking forward to the trip and meeting some people that I feel like I know so well. See ya's in a week Laughing

Makes the journey all the more worthwhile then eh? A good mix of new and old skool...and a YB3...teeny tiny rocket ships...seen a few early YB's at Spa Francorchamps that were racing...could have picked them up under your arm and walked away with them.... Laughing

Sounds like a great time! I wish I could attend. Then you would also have a DB6 in the lineup...and it would be nice to race again!

I figured if I packed and shipped myself plus the DB6 to this event and back, I could probably buy myself another Bimota...maybe even that Tesi-3D Carbon I want so badly.

Enjoy and post lots of pictures!

We've finally got a KB in the line up as well - a KB1. It looks like a sweet bike as well. Plus a trick SB7. And don't forget the BiMonkey Very Happy .

Quikduc, a DB6 would have been great to plug the hole in the DB line up. Given the amount of Bimotas that have popped up from everywhere, I'm surprised we didn't get a DB2. I would have liked to have seen one of them in the flesh.

KB1...Hhmmm...a Tambo bike also...we only just sneaked in Last Minute with a KB1 Tambo bike.and now hopefully a SB4 also...I'll have to check my references though as to which bikes were Tambo design, when he left etc etc...

Please please tell me that the BiMonkey is the mini-me DB1 rep??? And that it is having a lap or two of the circuit...if time constraints allow....Its been said before...before someone else says it...I'll ride anything if it looks fun...and that BiMonkey comes into that category....

Seems a shortage of DB2's in Oz....other than that imported DB2 Junior snapped up for a pittance recently....

You really scutinise images don't you steve!

The indicators are the bane of my existance, the plan today was to fit the indicators i got from the TRex YB5, so while the SB6 was getting polished, i was busy soldering new wiring for the front indicators. Everything was looking good untill it cam time to finally fit the fairing after the guys had spent about an hour cleaning the YB5.

I got the bits from the TRex bike and they didn't fit, there were custom mounts but for some very weird reason the pitch of the thread was different! I can't believe someone went to all the trouble to manufacture new mounts, then cut a different thread, which would mean the frame would have to be tapped!!! WTF..

My frame had 12mm 1mm pitch threads, the TRex bike had 12mm 1.25mm pitch!, so no indicators fitted. No mirrors on either bike, i don't know if i'll refit the originals to the YB5 or simply leave them off... I repainted the mirror mounts today, so if i have the time i'll organise all the bits so i can fit them at the event... or not!

I'm very happy with how the bikes came up after the detail, the guy did a phenomenal job..... simply lots of elbow grease and patience...

All part and parcel of the "job"....spend so long looking at bikes...things just kinda jump out at me....another fellow member was fettling a Cagiva CX125 to bring to the show...single sided front and rear wheel...and in the background was another stripped CX125...and I picked up that the front single sided fork linkage at the headstock was fitted 180 degree outwith the one in the background...so one had to be wrong.....

Bimotas....always something mad down with them that throws itself up and infuriates....a fellow member is resto'ing a DB1 and was after shoms for the rear swinging arm spindle for the 750 desmo engine...same engine as 750F1, Santa Monica, Laguna Seca....trip to Duc dealer....Nope...that spindle is Double the diameter of what Ducati used....thus Bimota used same engine....but overbored engine mounts and fitted larger bronze bushes....creating larger dia shims being needed...just like they do with front and rear wheel spindles...oversized in comparison to "donor" engine bikes...same with speedo drive units...its a Ducati engine...but bored out for larger dia spindle....You get to realise why they cost so much new...and why they handle and ride better

Bikes are better without mirrors...although would be nice to feed a mushroom SS bolt through the central mirror fixing hole.....keeps the fairing together at the front stays....
