quietly ruminating over a bowl of soggies* the other morning and reading stuff on the forum my mind drifted to impending tasks on the DB1.

The swingarm looks like shit, it has rust but I have a replacement, so I'll be doing that very soon.

I then thought of the chain, which will have to be retensioned after this task so I thought long and hard about obtaining the correct tool.

Hmm, 140 euro plus the [expensive] shipping. If I was in Italy I'd be buying a shit load of stuff, but I ain't, so I'm not.

Now I have plenty of special tools for the engine, but is there any way of getting stuff made or adapting other stuff in lieu of special tools?

I like getting my hands dirty, so all advice accepted

Another person on here posted up tools that he had made, basically the same as bimota did, a couple of short round correctly sized steel rods welded to a spare socket piece do a wrench to fit onto.....I also posted up ones I had made....short alloy rods with a cut slot where two button head allen key bolts are fitted into the slot at the right spacing and tightened....one for each side....I'll try and dig out the posts for you...

It's a beautiful life

As temporary, you can cable tie together 2 No. allen keys of next sizes...and these would fit in the holes for simple turning process

For a portable version to keep in your tool roll all you need is two short lengths of rod, say 2 ins/5cm long which are a good fit in the holes in the eccentric, then anything to act as a lever between them so you can rotate the eccentric. If the axle is well tightened you only need to rotate one side and the other goes with it. No special tool required.
