I found a red rubberized donut on the floor under my bike. It seems to be the bushing from around the shock shaft. Replaceable? Don't worry about it? I am assuming it is there to keep the suspension from bottoming out.
Thanks

If you have a paioli or ohlins shock on the back, which are the same in look and fabrication, with a separate gas remote unit, yeh. There should be a rubber ring around the chromed steel slider, that can travel up or down, yeh. It's a cush stop for if the shock does bottom out, it's a one piece whole rubber ring fitted when the shock is assembled, I'd not worry too much, depending on rider weight, or if you travel with a pillion, you could always pop it back on and run insulation tape around it, and perhaps a wide cable tie to keep it in place...check your shock. As it maybe a dogs toy you found, or an old homer Simpson 🍩.... |

Hi Rick
As far as I am aware no Mantra's were supplied with an Ohlin shock.
My paioli shock went (seal) and I replaced with a Niton shock, so much better.
I believe the donut you have found is the bottom rubber bush that has perished. The bike must be 20 plus years old so if original it has done well.
For safety's you must find out exactly what you have found. |

That's what it was. It has all but crumbled to pieces. I'll just live with it missing unless I upgrade the shock. It is the Paioli unit. |
